Since this seems to have been a stumper, it was... the 1989 black comedy horror Parents, starring Randy Quaid and directed by Bob Balaban, who as an actor is probably most famous for playing the difficult Russell, the NBC executive in charge of Jerry's "pilot" in season 4 of Seinfeld.
