Where would you rate 1997 as a movie year?

Tools

1997 was filled with a lot of amazing movies, yet the year is mostly regarded just as the year Titanic came out. Looking back at it, it has a lot of great movies from various genres.

So where would you rank it as a movie year in comparison to the famous 1999 or other years?

Welcome to the human race...
A few all-time greats, some solid stuff, a sizeable chunk of mediocrity, and quite a few stinkers. I figure that's true of any year.

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

A really good year, but it pales in comparison to 1999; Perhaps the Greatest Year for Cinema IMO.

2014, 1979, 1939, 1941, and 1994 are also killer landmarks for film.

1997 was a great year imo, probably third best of that decade behind '99 and '94. Films like LA Confidential, Good Will Hunting, The Fifth Element, Donnie Brasco, Jackie Brown, Hercules (very underrated imo) and Men in Black were fantastic.

730.Titanic (James Cameron)
732.Starship Troopers (Paul Verhoeven)
780.The River (Tsai Ming-Liang)
I like them most
