A system of cells interlinked
Scorsese, B-level director?

Pshaw!

Out of those ones, I chose Braveheart.

The most recent movie i can think of with an ending that really floored me was No Country For Old Men.

Scorsese isnt a b-level director, but the ending to Departed was so contrived it oozed of straight to video crap.

West Side Story: the Ray of hope in the end--a hint of reconciliation between the Jets & Sharks, especially when several members of each gang come together to carry off Tony's body.

American Beauty

\m/ Fade To Black \m/
The best ending also the saddest for me was in T2 when the terminator goes in to hot molten stuff, then he puts his thumb up,

[wipes eyes with tissue]

It gets me everytime.

I would have to say my fave ending would have to be Reservoir Dogs, The last 5 minutes of that movie are so chaotic. I remember the first time I saw the movie I had to rewatch the last shootout to make sure I didnt miss something. Movie gold IMO...

THREE - Citizen Kane, Chinatown and PSYCHO.

Very hard to choose, theres so many great endings.

Hitchcock movies a lot of the time have great endings (Rope, Psycho, Vertigo, etc.)

Other favorites of mine are The Shining, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Deer Hunter, It's a Wonderful Life, and Dog Day Afternoon to name a few.

Love back to the future part 2 ending "great scott"

Mr Smith goes to Washington

Saw - i know its an obvious one and has been almost ruined with sequels but anyone who saw this coming is a liar

Se7en - bleak! love it

Projecting the image of success
Hmm..i did love the ending of the movie 30 days of night..were in Sheriff Eben Oleson (josh harnett) turning into ashes as the next sunrise on the arms of his wife..
The ending from 30 days was the exact same way Blade II ended. I know that it was how the graphic novel ended but the director had to know that it was going to get some flack for it.

The ending to Life of David Gale was pretty damn good.
I liked the way that Sin City ended with Hartigan taking his own life.

Not sure if it was the best movie ending ever but i was a little choked up at the end of "Big Fish" and that never happens.

Dissapearing Pen Trick is #1
The most beautiful endings that I can think of right now is the singing at the end of Paths of Glory, where the men go from yelling at this poor girl to singing with her in harmony and shedding tears.

Also, the ending of the orignal All Quiet on the Western Front was sad but yet great. When Kat gets killed and Paul gets shot by the sniper and you see his hand stop moving on the ground. Then its followed by the marching of the troops with the gravestones in the background.

But there are too many great endings to pick just one or even ten for that matter.
