Need help finding movie title. Movie is set in view of flashbacks from daughter as father of about 70ish dies of cancer(I think).
Story is of the guy who was an orphan, joins the military. Marries when he is 18 and his wife is 14. They have 9 kids together. One of the scene is one of the kids driving over his brother with the car. The brother is fine but goes to the hospital. The dad sings a lot and sang Oh Danny Boy to his son while he was in the hospital.
This movie never left my memory and left a huge impact on my life but i just can't remember the name. Please help!

What was the time period of the film? Roughly when do you think it was made? Was it in color? Any actors you recognize?
