There are a number of plot things that just don't check out either, and a lot of realistic things - like not being able to actually breathe on Mars - that they definitely take some artistic liberty with.

Having recently got back from a trip to Mars I can assure that the atmosphere there is perfectly breathable.
Oh wait, herself has just informed me that it was actually Mullingar we went to .... as you were

As usual I'll read everybody's reviews after I've watched the movie. Though I suppose if I've seen the movie before I might read the review when posted.
Naked Lunch, I kind of liked it, but wanted to see it again as I thought I might appreciate it more the second time around. Peter Weller is great in it, so is the talking typewriter, ha. I should see this again sometime. Strange movie!

Seconds 1966
***contains mild spoilers***
The film starts off with a hypnotizing paranoid title sequence and slides into a mysterious, suspenseful, skillfully filmed sci-fi thriller with a fine score. It approaches themes like; a second chance in life, midlife crisis and true freedom.
Plot wise I somehow got the same vibe from it as I got from the 1997 David Fincher thriller The Game starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. Maybe because it also features a secretive organization like ‘The Company’ that stage and set-up illusions that appear like real life on a very grand scale.
I agree with@Citizen Rules that the film kinda went a little downhill after the very awkward 60’s soft-porn cult-like grape crushing scene.
The thing that stood out most in this film for me was the excellent camerawork, unorthodox angels/shots and creative old school image manipulation. The acting is also Rock solid.

Ha, I liked that
I like that you mentioned the opening title credits I was impressed by those too, and had made a mental note to mention them in my review. But come a week later and I totally forgot about them, until just now. That was the great Saul Bass who did those. He did the title graphics for many of the great films. Below is a YouTube link for his work, it's like an hour long so I doubt anyone is going to watch it all at one go. But bookmark it and if you have a spare 5 minutes you can check it out, one movie at a time. The first film up is one of my favorites.

Glad I joined, because as I expected, at least half of the nominated films are ones that would've never been on my radar, and that's what I like about the site's HOFs.
Aliens - I guess I'm one of the few people in this world who has yet to see the sequel to Alien. I'm glad I didn't though, because this is a first-watch for me, and I'm so excited about it!
Minority Report - Haven't seen much of Spielberg, and what I have seen I've felt negatively about, so hopefully this breaks that cycle.
Timecrimes - I was the one who tried to nominate this by the way, so it goes without saying that I'm happy about seeing it pop up. I'm a bit sceptical though, because It's been years since I've last seen it, and I loved it back then, but I'm not sure how I'll feel about it now.
Seconds - It's been so many years since I've last seen Seconds, and I gotta say, I wasn't that big of a fan then. Still, I considered nominating it for the sake of re-visiting such an acclaimed classic.
Gattaca - It's cool overall, and I'm not against the idea of re-watching it, but it wasn't my thing back when I first saw it, and I don't really expect it to be my thing now. Who knows though, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Déja Vu - I'm pretty sure I caught glimpses of this on TV, on the other hand, the director's first film The Hunger is a hidden gem. It's at least worth adding to your watchlist.
Videodrome - I'm 50/50 on Cronenberg. I've seen 5 of his films thus far, 2 of 'em I loved, 2 of 'em I really didn't like, meanwhile, Videodrome is sitting right in the middle. I think this re-watch will either pump it up, or drag it down.
Coherence - A film I can watch at any time, on any mood, at any place. It's just a lot of fun.
The rest - Forbidden Planet is the one I'm most excited about. Liquid Sky and Robinson Crusoe look interesting, while Turbo Kid and Attack the Block could go either way with me.
Aliens - I guess I'm one of the few people in this world who has yet to see the sequel to Alien. I'm glad I didn't though, because this is a first-watch for me, and I'm so excited about it!

With all this talk about Seconds, maybe it'll be the next film I watch.
Unfortunately it's not wholly original since it's based on a book, but as a film it's definitely got a unique look.
The more I think about it, the more I want to rewatch it haha.
It's easily my favorite Cronenberg, and one of the most imaginative and original films out there.
The more I think about it, the more I want to rewatch it haha.

I feel you mate, and there's so much in it to dissect, to the point that endless viewings are needed in order to get the full experience.

I know that it's based on Burroughs novel, but because it's an adaptation, and what it's adapting is pretty damn original, I'm fine with calling the story of the film original.

It's been about two months ago since I last saw Naked Lunch and could go for a rewatch.

I'll most likely end up starting with Timecrimes. It's a film that I've been meaning to see for the past few years so it's great to see it nominated.
You're spoiling the classic grape stomping scene
One of the most interesting things about the nude grape stomping party scene wasn't the nude people, it was when the camera swings up and we see something interesting overhead.

I think it might be a Quokka...
...but don't quote me on that.
