A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
That's not on this list. Nobody talks about that thing anymore.

The rare film that gets progressively worse as it goes on. Now if you watch it in reverse it's a masterpiece.

As Avatar was Disney's Pocahontas, A.I. was Disney's Pinocchio (except A.I. was way too direct with its reference... and also that Avatar is still a very watchable movie).

Are these the films that still have to appear (not in any order)?

Star Wars (1977)
The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
Blade Runner (1982)
Alien (1979)
Aliens (1986)
The Thing (1982)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
The Matrix (1999)
The Terminator (1984)
Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)
Back to the Future (1985)
WALL.E (2008)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Twelve Monkeys (1995)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) The Fly (1986)
That should be it.

I'm not getting that comparison Captain

Some films are based on historical legends and others are based on fairy tales (and still others are based on classic literature, like Shakespeare!)

Woody Allen is a pedophille
The Stats

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Speilberg is back on top, or at least tied with Paul Verhoeven. Both of them have three films in the countdown so far.

Layout: 3rd, 4th (x2), 5th, 6th (x2), 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 21st (x2), 22nd, 23rd, 24th

Planet of the Apes

Not only did Planet of the Apes make the list, but it is currently tied with RoboCop for being featured on the most lists so far.

Layout: 5th, 6th, 7th (x2), 8th (x2), 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th (x3), 14th, 16th (x2), 18th, 19th, 21st (x2), 22nd (x2), 23rd, 24th

I hate to imitate Psychic JayDee, who was imitating Psychic Sexy, who was imitating Psychic Isaac, but Psychic Sexy thought Planet of the Apes was gonna be next.

What gets me with Verhoeven being tied with Spielberg for most list appearances on the countdown, and the 23 votes for RoboCop making it tied with Apes... there's very little interest in the Verhoeven Club

I had never been interested in seeing Planet of the Apes but I tried it for the 60's countdown. I ended up loving it, and I voted for it then, and I voted for it this time too.

I was bored out of my mind when I saw Close Encounters at the cinema, but of course I was only six. I watched it for the second time for this countdown, and besides a couple of cool scenes, I just didn't like it.

My list-

#2 Strange Days (81st)
#6 RoboCop (28th)
#8 28 Days Later (85th)
#9 E.T. (21st)
#11 Total Recall (19th)
#12 The Hidden (82nd)
#13 Planet of the Apes (17th)
#19 Children of Men (20th)
#20 Seconds (84th)
#21 Donnie Darko (83rd)
#22 Interstellar (43rd)
#23 Ex-Machina (30th)
#24 Her (25th)
#25 They Live (45th)

7 more from my list will make it.

4 from my list will not make it, and strangely enough it'll be 4 consecutive selections from my list.

Because what is the POINT of these clubs anyway?

You click a button and all of a sudden you're part of a club. That's ALL you do.

Depends on the Club.
I'm doing movie of the month stuff and have written up a proper filmography that even IMDb and Wiki don't have... and have included his biography too.

Both of those made my top 25

Faildictions:
16. The Thing (1982)
15. Back To The Future (1985)

This whole waiting a day for 2 more films wasn't that bad earlier in the countdown, but now it's excruciating waiting to see where these final 16 films are placed. I have seen Close Encounters but it wasn't on my list. The only Apes movie I saw before the new ones was the Tim Burton one starring Mark Wahlberg from 2001, which I wasn't a fan of. I've been meaning to get around to watching the classics, but I have so many older movies on my watch list it may take me a while to find the time.

My List: 16/84

Seen: 47/84

1. Will Make the List
2. Independence Day (40)
3. Looper (100)
4. Starship Troopers (54)
5. Will Make the List
6. The Prestige (72)
7. Not making it
8. Signs (76)
9. Not making it
10. Most likely making the list.
11. Making the List
12. Most likely not making the list
13. Avatar (80)
14. 28 Days Later (85)
15. Making the list, will probably be #1 or at least top 5
16. Predator (26)
17. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (27)
18. The Martian (60)
19. E.T. (21)
20. District 9 (65)
21. Edge of Tomorrow (66)
22. Mad Max: Fury Road (37)
23. Inception (24)
24. Source Code (92)
25. Cloverfield (Unranked)

Yeah well... I never really thought you'd join tbh, SC, seeing as your back catalogue is basically 4 movies, 3 of them starring Jake Gyllenhaal... so you can keep your contemptuous gifs to yourself.

At least I'm trying to get something going for the site and for other movie fans... be part of a community, rather than just make daft meaningless threads all the time... and then insult and put down everyone else's efforts.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with Paul Verhoeven. He directed Basic Instinct, yes?
