Have you ever bitten your tongue so hard?

2008-2013 One word title that i think is also the little black girls unique name... I thought it started with a p and speaks to the moral of the story below but im not so sure anymore yellowish cover. Crime Drama something kind of like Crash where multiple lives are interconnected throughout. Might be set in Los Angeles. Some gang stuff where earlier someone is shot and killed... towards the end as these two gangsters sit in their Dodge charger ready to shoot the guys in revenge this little girl who is a bit big sitting in the back seat starts talking... asking have you ever bitten your tongue so hard that the pain is so bad that you instantly regret it snd would do anything, anything to go back to before the pain.... but you cant... you can never go back because it doesnt work like that.
