And the new Bond girl IS…

Sep 29, 2011

Berenice Marlohe is rumored to be cast opposite Daniel Craig in the upcoming Bond movie.
Twitch Film states: Marlohe is ”A young French actress currently making the transition from television to film – she is currently filming Un bonheur n’arrive jamais seul with Lucky Luke and Hellphone director James Huth…”
I think we can all see why this unknown has been cast… Damn.
Bond 23 is in pre-production.

Anyone's better than Olga Kurylenko...god, she was TERRIBLE. She ruined "Quantum of Solace" for me - her whole revenge story with the General was a complete waste of time.

Rather melodramatic there... she was a good Bond girl, she wasn't terrible in the slightest. Loved her storyline and one of the better things in a slightly disappointing Bond film. It was much better than the bore they had for the 'villain' and that storyline.

I suppose I like the more stronger Bond girls(Eva Green's Bond girl being my all time favourite) and they carried that on in Solace with Kurylenko.

And both films had the wonderful fire/water mirror with those two Bond girls.

Did you really just neg rep me over this?! I'm just giving an opinion, man!

Look, there's nothing melodramatic about what I said. I don't think that Olga Kurylenko added anything special to Quantum. I mean, her name was Camille. Not Camille Steel, or Cammy Whammy - but CAMILLE. Her name says it all: she was dismal and unexciting. Her pouty, "woe-is-me-" sob story about her parents didn't interest me whatsoever. And for someone seeking revenge, she was a tad boring. There was no fire in her eyes, you know? She was just...bleh.

I was more interested in Strawberry Fields (Gemma Arterton) and I was pissed that they killed her off so quickly.

In Casino Royale, we were presented with Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) who was a smart, sophisticated, no-bulls*it woman with allure and charisma.

...and then we get Camille.

That's all I'm saying.

Wow, bold font there...

Anyway.

I liked her too and the actress but she was too much like the push over Bond girls I'm not too keen on, so glad she was out of the picture quick but was good enough for that sequence. I like the more exciting Bond girl in the film, you don't. Fair enough.

I really hope this franchise gets off the Jason Bourne bandwagon, and back to what made Bond films so great in the first place. Gadgets, laconic wit, exotic women, flamboyant bad guys, and ridiculously OTT final battles in undergroud lairs versus henchmen who all wear the same colour co-ordinated outfits. An editor that hasn't just dropped a load of amphetamines would be nice too.

Seriously.

I thought your last post was all you were saying...

I can't find anything official, but looks like they have new editors and cinematographers to go with the new director. But I predict more amphetamines unless you can slip them some cannabis instead.

That'd be good, but sadly it's not going to happen. At least, not to the extent I'd like. There again, Bond's not really my thing anywhere. BRING BACK ROGER MOORE!!!

I re-watched the entire series a few months back with Kathy, and realised I've been kidding myself about prefering Connery. As much as I love From Russia With Love, and Diamonds Are Forever; I found Moore's Bond, and the sequence of films he was in far more enjoyable overall.

I second that motion sir!

They should bring back Moore...we have the technology

Javier Bardem confirmed

In an interview with Nightline on ABC, Bardem was asked about playing the villain in Bond 23, to which he said,

"I am very excited, my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them, and to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details."

With Sam Mendes at the helm and Roger Deakins on the camera I expect this will be one of the best Bond films ever. And with Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem supporting, just fantastic!

Bond 23 Auditions Girls, Plans Stunt

October 17th 2011

32 year-old Chinese actress Tang Wei ("Lust, Caution") is currently top of the list to play a small villainess role in the upcoming 23rd James Bond film reports MI6 HQ.
The casting directors reportedly interviewed over one hundred actresses from Asia for the part. Other candidates include Fan Bingbing, Li Bingbing, Shu Qi and Josie Ho.
Wei's strong English language skills reportedly make her a favourite for the role, as does the fact her management company is one of the major investors in the film.
Shooting on the next 007 film is slated to commence November 7th on location in the UK where Central London's Smithfield Market will be used for a car chase scene with Bond having to "switch from a Range Rover to a Jaguar".
The film's traditional press conference launch will take place in late November when shooting at Pinewood Studios commences.
