now listening to Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire for the umpteenth time. probably album of the year?
Haven't heard that one, but as far as 2024 albums go, I have a very serious appointment today:

They're back.

Sunglasses Kid's long-awaited album Internal Affairs is worth the wait. Kudos to him for keeping synthwave alive.

One of the highlights:

Going through a Yukihiro Takahashi marathon today. First was the album Neuromantic, which I though was very good for its genre but a tad on the samey side. Next was What, Me Worry? which had much more eclectic behavior and a little more variety, but eas purely consistent. Began and ended well, with one song I would've changed the middle-act to, but hardly constitues as a flaw with the album as I'll allow n 8/10 song on a collection of ten songs. So, 100.

The band that opened for Nick Cave is pretty great, a bit of an early Kate Bush meets First Aid Kit.

They might be called Jake Owen & The Shires, but that doesn’t make an awful lot of sense as the vocals are exclusively female.
