Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Last Year at Marienbad - the way it moves (as if we're seeing this unfold through the eyes of a gliding ghost), the way it looks, and for all the interpretations of the film.... it's the birthday gift that keep on giving.

I actually made a movie list for my 60th birthday, it was going to be a 60 for 60, but I kept adding films I didn't want to lose, so it eventually became an even 100. I worked on it for a year, watched a lot of new (to me) movies... had fun doing that and it was a pretty good year.

Next thread, "Your favorite film in which a character has you mother's maiden name?" and then "Film title that features the name of your first pet?"

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain
Always thought it was so-so, but on second look, not bad. Given my mood at this minute (ask tomorrow and it will change):

The Trouble with Harry

But it could be any of these:

Marty
To Catch a Thief
Mister Roberts
The Seven Year Itch (When I finally saw this on a big screen, I was amazed. Marilyn Monroe was terrific.)
The Lady Killers
Bad Day at Black Rock
The Man with the Golden Arm
Picnic (for those who think 50s films couldn't be brutally honest)

Ones I should like but just am luke warm on:

The Night of the Hunter
Rebel Without a Cause
East of Eden

I really dug that movie. I owned it on blu ray or something for like a decade before I watched it (no good idea why, just never seemed like the right moment) and when I finally just said, "Stop thinking, do it," I felt incredibly rewarded. It's a Great Film that is an Art Film that I think is actually truly both.

Easy. Not my absolute favorite, but right up the list!
