Seriously, what is this world coming to, first Prometheus and now this, not that I am a huge fan of The Expendables but a movie like this should have an R rating.

The Expendables 2 Gets PG-13 Rating Because of Chuck Norris

Lionsgate is currently working to release The Expendables 2 this summer, which adds genre icon Chuck Norris to an already-legendary lineup of action stars.

While talking about his participation in the project, Chuck Norris dropped a bombshell, saying that he forced the filmmakers to cut out all the foul language. This is to insure that The Expendables 2 will get a PG-13 rating, and that the younger kids will be able to see it.

Here's what he had to say.

"In The Expendables 2, it had a lot of hard language in there, that would prevent a lot of young people from going to see it. I said, I don't do movies like that. I didn't do them in the past, I didn't do them on my TV series. I said, if you can't cut out all the language, hardcore language, I can't do it. So they did, and they made it a PG-13 film, so kids can go see it."

While we won't hear any naughty words, it seems we do get to see Chuck Norris saving the lives of this star-studded cast throughout The Expendables 2.

"I just finished The Expendables 2. That was a fun movie to do because I keep saving their lives throughout the whole movie, so I'm like the superhero against (Arnold) Schwarzenegger, (Sylvester) Stallone, and Bruce Willis."
Best quote from the article above "so kids can go see it".

New Phrase For When Someone Makes A Mess Of Something: Norrised

"Darn it! I made a right Norris of that!"
"Yup, you've Norrised it right up. You complete Norris"

I don't think Kids these days respect people more if they dont curse…
The truth is if you want a badass movie with a badass cast then they really shouldn't be saying shoot and darn

Mr. Norris, he doesn't like swearing but fine with kids seeing violence.

Is this official because that article is from January and a few months later one of the cast members said it's definitely going to be a R rated film.

Hmmmm, yeah I don't know if that is official or not really.

Taken from Wikipedia:

On January 19, 2012, Stallone confirmed that the film was being aimed towards a PG13 audience, meaning the film could be viewed by people above thirteen years of age and children below that age with parental permission, unlike the R-rating of the previous film which restricted the film to those over the age of seventeen.

Speaking to Ain't It Cool News about the change, Stallone said "The PG-13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level."
It was reported that the change was requested by Norris before he would take part in the film, as he did not appreciate the swearing present in the script.

I thought they went back to it being R? Like I said earlier, it seems really weird the Norris would have the star power to demand a PG-13 rating, add onto the fact that this is suppose to be a throwback 80's action film. How many of these movies did these guys star in that was PG-13?

I think it will get the R rating back. OR at least I hope.

It does seem weird that Norris would have the power to do this, compared to the rest of the cast he IMO is close to the bottom as far as "Star Power" goes.

Seems the only way to get an R rating on a film these days is to make it the torture porn genre like Saw or Hostel.

What's wrong with making a full on action film for grown ups?

I am not one of those people that gets all hot and bothered about violent movies, anyone who knows what kind of movies I like should know that, but just for the sake of argument about this whole PG-13 rating, if I had a kid that was 13 there's no chance I would let him go see that. That's why if I ever have a kid he or she will have to get smart and learn how to sneak into the movies.
