Such a shame as its about a million times better than most WW2 films.

The Hurt Locker is one I really enjoyed. It is a recent movie aswell.

Great movie man...I saw this before the Oscar hype train took hold and bar the 2nd act sillyness that should have been cut out was gripped from start to finish by its pace, performances and aesthetic.

I never counted it as a war movie myself though, more a drama set during a conflict. Subtle difference I know.

Good shout anyway

I completely agree with this selection. It is easily the best war drama that i have ever seen (though the emphasis on debate over battle took a little adjusting to).

Stalag 17 is a great film from 1953.
I really didn't like this movie, which basically took the worst parts of MASH and The Great Escape and answered the age-old question of what a Nazi-run Summer Camp would look like. The "mole in the POW camp" plot was good, the rest was not.
