All Your List Are Belong To Us: The MoFo Video Games Countdown

The People's Republic of Clogher

Ahoy!

This countdown should be reasonably straightforward: PM me your list of 25 favourite video games, ranked from 1 to 25.

Be they from the golden age of Nintendo, the early days of arcades, the rise of online 'services' or tapping your cellphone screen three times a day, bring them all!

The only restriction is that a game has to have been commercially available at some point, either on store shelves, in arcades or in online shops such as Xbox Live, Playstation Network, Steam or the Apple and Android app stores.

Oh, and no porny stuff. None. Although you can PM me some links.

I think this will be an interesting one, with a mixture of fond memories and current obsessions.

It would be great if we get enough lists to have a top 100 list, but I honestly think that'll be a tough ask. Prove me wrong! I'll keep it open for a month or so, gently chiding and cajoling people who I think could submit a killer list as I go.

The meta thread is here if you feel that something needs discussed.

Finally, thanks to False Writer for suggesting the idea and to the lovely Rodent for his mad graphics skillZ!

One guy's already working hard at narrowing his ballot down to just 25...

It's DOTA, isn't it?

EDIT - I'm aiming for a 25th August (2017) cut off date for lists.

I've already taken a first pass at my list, but I'm positive I'm forgetting some stuff, so I'm gonna give it a little more thought and probably have it in next week.

Cool thread.

Like I said in the other one I should have my list done by Saturday. I'm really hoping we can get to 100.

This should so be an official list. Make it official Yoda!

What do you mean in the list section? That would be weird haha.
Yeah I may be reaching a bit on that one.

No, that's what I meant: it was extremely clever.

That was one of the first memes I think I ever saw. So early, in fact, that I didn't really entirely understand the concept, even though it was kinda funny.

Sorry!

6 lists in so far. I'm nowhere near finished my own but am exploring some ideas around supplemental content from people who aren't members of the site but are known gamers/developers. Their choices won't sully the MoFo list, of course, and will merely add some flavour.

No worries. First time I saw it was that big Flash video where the phrase was plastered on road signs and billboards. I remember thinking "how is this everywhere and I've never heard of it?" Took me awhile to realize it was just a bunch of (sometimes really good!) Photoshops, I guess. But the video made it feel like it was already a thing. Though maybe it was, and someone had just collected everyone else's Photoshops. I have no idea.

Anyway: supplemental content. Sounds intriguing! And exciting.

I'll definitely be making a specific point to say a few things about most of my favorites if/when they appear, to be sure.

Have a list, but you'd just get dozen revisions over the next couple weeks if I sent it now. So I'll hold off, but I can guarantee a list of 25.

The People's Republic of Clogher
Do we have a due date? I'm going to take a look at a little preliminary list today.
I'd like to say 4 weeks but imagine that there might not be many additional lists after 2.

Lets aim for Friday 25th August.

What systems do everyone have?

Mine:
NES
Gameboy
N64
PS1
PS2
Wii
GameCube
Sega

Mine are mainly SNES and Amiga 1200 with a handful of PS1... and a couple PS2 games that I genuinely enjoyed.
I had a few Game Boy games shortlisted but they ultimately got cut.
Looked into a few Atari and NES games and some other stuff from the 80s but I wasn't that much into videogames at that age.
My gaming age was the 1990s.

Loved how Amiga magazines used to come with demos on the cover
I had thousands of those things.
