Overrated Actors/ Underrated Actors

I got for good luck my black tooth.
I love Sam as a jedi, but I was really disappointed that he went out like such a b**ch in Episode III

Bruce Cambell- One of my favorite actors hands down. Evil Dead 2 performance was just awsome.
I like Sam quite a bit in some of his non-badass roles like Fresh, Unbreakable, and Changing Lanes. Truth is, he’s almost always cast as a bad ass…and c’mon…since when has Bruce been underrated? We all love the mook.

Hey, Sam got owned by The Emperor. That’s not going out like a bitch.

Yeah, but the emperor was weakend almost to the point of death.

Benicio Del Toro

UNDERRATED !

Dr. Gonzo (Fear & Loathng in Las Vegas), Fenster (The Usual Suspects), Benny Dalmau (Basquiat), Vincent Roche (Excess Baggage) , Jackie Boy (Sin City) - the list of memorable characters Del Toro has portrayed is endless. The man never fails to spark a little life into a flick every time he steps in front of the camera. He's one of my favorite actors and I hope that in time, he will gain the recognition and notoriety he deserves.

I really dig the guy, and he has some real depth. Good, bad, beautiful, or ugly...Del Toro can do it.

Yes! I mean it's just insulting that Benicio is walking around without some major Award like, oh, let's say an Oscar. WHEN WILL HE BE RECOGNIZED AS A GOOD ACTOR?!?!?

Oh...wait.

Yo She Bi*ch, lets go.
Now that I look at it, my list don't make much sense!

Well, ya know, he can still be underrated despite winning an Oscar four years ago. When people talk about their favorite actors and the like, very rarely does Benicio's name pop up.

BTW:

Hmmmm, it seems you've explored the possibility that perhaps Sir Sean Connery is underrated.

But... how can he be underrated if he has an Oscar?!

No, he wasn't weak at all, as he suddenly came alive and zapped Jackson all over the place once his trickery had run it's course. Watch the subtle facial acting by McDiarmid in the scene. It was all a ruse, everything had proceeded according to his designs! All was going as he had forseen it! Oh....sorry...

WHAT?? Subtle acting in Star Wars?? Holden and Slay will string me up!!

No, really, McDiarmid elevated this film from mediocrity for me, and made it truely human and engaging to watch, as opposed to...Phantom Menace or something. He did have many subtle machinations in his schemes and his acting portrayed that idea quite well, I thought. Also, remember The Emporer took Windu down only after Anakin had turned and helped him to do it. It was all part of the grand design of the emperor, which was one of the coolest parts of the prequels, if not the coolest part. I thought Lucas really nailed those aspects of the prequels and Sith especially. He created an epic drama full of intrigue. As for why Sam Jackson sucks as a Jedi, remember, all any decent actor needs to do is get directed by Lucas to turn in a ****bum performance. How McDiarmid escaped this curse is beyond me...maybe he rewrote his lines and told George to leave the set when his scenes were filmed...

Also, quit picking on Leo people, Scorsese clearly respects his talent, and Scorsese seems to have a clue....

Overrated - Sean Penn

Underrated - John Goodman

Now that I have watched pretty much all the Coen's films, my respect for JG has skyrocketed. I LOVED his performace in Barton Fink. Perfectly cast....

My opinion of DiCaprio changed completely from Gangs Of New York (he looked out of his depth when partnered with Day-Lewis) to The Aviator (great authority, Marty's faith in him was justified after all).

Has anybody said Steve Buscemi yet? I'm new and didn't want to wade through 10 pages of postings.

Not sure if anybody heard of Joaquim de Almeida. I've only seen him in a couple of films ... Clear and Present Danger and Desperado. He played the antagonist in Clear and Present Danger. I thought he was a pretty good villain. Probably too obscure ... except for maybe Holden and Slayton

Huge Fan of Robert De Niro
OVER-RATED: Tom Cruise and that stupid little bitch Paris Hilton are all that spring to my mind right now

UNDER-RATED: i 100% agree with the person that said Robert Duvall he is one of my all time favourites, Christina Ricci (she really is a quite good actress), Morgan Freeman (not that hes undertated because almost everyone knows who he is but he really should be put higher on those great actors lists)

YES, I AGREE! I am sick to death of people always talking about how talented and accomplished she is as an actress! Shut up already, World! OK, sure she's an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, Tony and Grammy winner. She's done it all and has proven successful at all levels of the entertainment industry. But enough already. Please.

Oh, wait. NOBODY has ever rated her even acceptible as an actress. Ever. Not even her mother.

But point well taken.

I was about to ask what she had been in, but then realised I just don't care.

Robert Duvall? Since when is he underrated? Morgan Freeman????

O man......

but now you have my attention
Underrated - Leo Di Cap (Would have an Oscar if he weren't so pretty and taken more seriously) Aviator, catch me if you can, Inception and Departed.

Overrated - Halle Berry (Had no competition for that oscar she won for Monsters Ball, which must have had some voting help from Male teens who had watched certain scenes from that movie over and over)

Maybe you know better than me, but I think male teens are pretty scarce when it comes to AMPAS members. Whatever the reason she won, I don't think teenagers, male or female, had much to do with it.

No you're right I'm not an expert when it comes to the process of the Oscars, I'm just having a rant because she got an oscar for softcore porn and there's no comparison to other actresses that have won Oscars through the years.

Plus I like Billy Bob Thornton but he's got to be the luckiest ugly man in the world to be getting some of his roles.
