Films That NEED A Reboot

Tools

I say the general rule for me and reboots is if the movie had issues, or if you want to try and make a more faithful adaptation, then go for the reboot. But classics do not need to be remade and or rebooted.

I am the Watcher in the Night
Reboot Mortal Kombat, the first movie was ok but we need something that is an 18, bloody, violent and unapologetic in it's approach to depicting such a game.

Film studios need to stay away from Mario and MGS. You just can't make a good movie out of those two for varying reasons.

I'd love a Ghostbusters remake with modern day comedians taking on the role. It could easily be one of the biggest blockbusters of recent times...if done right.

Btw I do differentiate between remakes and reboots. A great example of a remake is the Dawn of the Dead movie by Zack Snyder, it had the same premise, a similar story and slightly different characters but the themes and underlying message was all the same.

A reboot is different in that it tries to erase a lot of what has gone on before and takes the movie in a new direction, examples are obviously Batman Begins, The Amazing Spiderman and Casino Royale.

Bugsy (1991) could've made an amazing film, but of course Hollywood demands that it fulfills the checklist for hungry, 1 dimensional consumers.

American Warships. It had an interesting storyline about North Korea being suspected of starting a war. This film looked like something that was made by high school kids. The dialogue was crappy, the special effects were laughable, the whole thing was disjointed and to be blunt, it was garbage. But if it had been made by someone with talent and more money, this would have been a fantastic movie.

He Man ( but I believe it's in the works)
