What about Michael Myers parents?

Hey.

I noticed something unrealistic in John Carpenters Halloween.
What about Michael Myers his parents?
I mean if somebody his son gets locked up in a institution because he killed his sister at young age would the police not have to notify that boy his parents when he escapes that institution?
Always felt weird to me.
If somebody could explain this to me in some way that would be nice.

This question is pretty easy to research. I was never a fan of Halloween, but according to series’ mythology, Michael’s parents died in a car crash in 1965. He murders his sister Judith on Halloween in 1963. I don’t know how trustworthy the sources are, but it doesn’t look like a plot hole to me.

In sequels, you do get the police warning Laurie that Michael escaped again.
