Orion Pictures to Relaunch in 2018

"Honor is not in the Weapon. It is in the Man"

MGM is re-launching Orion Pictures as a standalone U.S. theatrical marketing and distribution label, beginning with Every Day on February 2, 2018. That film, directed by Michael Sucsy, revolves around a shy teenager who falls for someone who transforms into another person every day.

MGM purchased Orion in 1997 and launched the company in 2013 as a co-distributor with Samuel Goldwyn Pictures. However, the re-launch will give Orion their own films to market and distribute again.

Orion Pictures formed in 1978 but went bankrupt in 1991 before MGM purchased the company six years later. Their releases in the day include “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Amadeus,” “The Terminator,” “Platoon,” “Dances with Wolves” and “Hoosiers”.

That would go to Filmation, who also made Fat Albert, Archie's Funhouse, She-Ra, Ghostbusters (not based on the 1984 film but first a live action 70s series then an 80s animated series), and BraveStarr before shutting down operations in 1989 after 26 years.

I see! Just remembered their logo popping up before the start. But its probably just my weak memory. Getting old!

Orion Pictures came up with some good movies way back when. Interesting to see what else they can come up with...
