10 am. I guess I could wake up by then. No chance we could move it to 12 noon?
Holden leaves for a gig at noon, this was the only time I could figure that was at least possible for everyone. If there's a hard conflict for multiple people I kinda just flip a coin.

I think he might have to leave a bit early as-is, but if you can draft for a bit over an hour at that point you're mostly fine, autodrafting the back half of the draft isn't a death sentence.

10 am will work. I’ll just set my alarm early.
I don’t want to hold us up any longer then necessary so everyone can figure out our draft order so they can start mocks up

Not trying to hijack the thread but I'm doing a guillotine league again this season if anybody is interested. The draft date is Sept 1 @ 8:00 pm CT. There are 6 spots available on a first come first serve basis.

I h e a feeling a Yoda has already drawn for about 7 or 8 of us and the only spots remaining are 6 - 8.
Nah. He's busy. Itll all get done faster if everyone just send their draft order too him now. If we're waiting to be asked again it just drags on longer.

Okay, choice order drawn, contacting the first few people. Unfortunately only like two people sent me their full preferences ahead of time so this might take a bit. I'm giving everyone just about a day per choice, if I don't hear back by then I'm giving them the next-highest slot, since we have to move quick.

Vikings lose their rookie QB McCarthy for the season for torn meniscus. There were some hype around him before the injury.
At some point, the chatter about removing pre season games will grow louder.

Replying here in case people have thread reply emails and not PM emails setup: please check your PMs. We have to move fast. 24 hours after the draft slot choice I simply have to give you the next-highest slot and move on since every choice is a potential bottleneck.

If you get back on after and your choice is still available you can still have it but at that point it's like running out of time at the NFL Draft, where other people can just race you to the stage.

Well I guess I got that McCaffrey guy. Heard alot about him. Hope he stays healthy. I guess he's footballs version of Aaron Judge.

Again I'll be completely auto-drafting so if the #1 player changes between now and then that's who I'll be picking.
I appreciate Spaulding advising me to tweak my draft order, have done that a few times, but I'm really wanting to get that coveted Yahoo A+. That's big business.

It’s A Classic Rope-A-Dope
I just thought of something that has occurred to me the last couple of years while going through our scoring settings. Does anyone else think maybe it’s time to adjust for Def points allowed? So hard to score any points anymore in that category with the league being so offensive minded. I know we don’t want Def to be too valuable in fantasy, but as is they really are barely a thought anymore.

I don't, no. I think it is fine the way it is.

I agree, I wish I'd thought to bring it up earlier.

I'll give everyone a solid week to object to the idea of me tweaking defense scores high. Not a lot, just a bit.

I will say that the first TD scored against you is a huge decrease in Def points scored. It goes down by 6. That’s simply too much of a hit, and then it kind of becomes inconsistent. Next TD is like, 3 points off? 14 points against puts its at 1 Def point scored, not including any fumble recoveries, sacks, or interceptions. So just 2 TD scored against and it’s not evenly applied.
1st TD with extra point: -6 points
2nd TD with extra point: -3
It’s always bothered me.

Well, you start with 10 points just for your Defense suiting up. If they give up two TDs and have not supplemented with any positives (fumble recoveries, sacks, what have you), giving up 14 actual points essentially erases the 10 Fantasy points. Always seemed fair to me. Most defenses that give up more than a couple touchdowns in the NFL do not put their teams in position to win many games. Why should Fantasy be different, in that regard?

How do you propose to "fix" that (though I don't consider it broken)? If a D can give up four TDs and still be giving you double-digit Fantasy scores, that doesn't feel right. Just get rid of the position. If the average D gets 9-12 points then you tweak it where the average is 16-18 points, if it rises uniformly then what's the point?

I don’t find that to be true anymore. I looked to make sure my thoughts weren’t anecdotal, as they tend to be. The average has been over 20 for a few seasons now. If I was king, I would line fantasy scoring more with those numbers.

Just looked up what my starting DEFs gave me last year. I used seven different teams (Green Bay five times, Las Vegas four, Detroit three, Tampa Bay twice, Denver, Seattle, and Cleveland once each). I scored 134 points total, for an average of 7.88. My highest weekly score was a 19, my lowest was a 0.

You want Wide Receiver type numbers from the DEF? QB level? Not all positions are equal.
