Oh my god can't believe I made you listen to that. It's amazing I love that album. The first time I heard it, I was ********* and pissed myself laughing all the way through until I hit "Swan Dive" and "Jesus (of Narzareth)". Then I knew all this bluster hid a lot of pain. Unique voice, too. The song I chose jlis probably their silliest, but **** it, right?

3. Dr. Octagon - Blue Flowers (Revisited) vs.
N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton
I found this in the metal section of a music shop wtf. Bought it on the spot, and it blew my mind. This was my introduction to the wonderful world of Kool Keith. Beautiful stuff.

4. Max Normal - Be Kind to Animals vs. Promoe - Injected
Tough choice, pitting my Swedish rap darling against tge beginning of what you all know now as Ninja from Die Antwoord. Back then, and this is from an old demo, he was known as Max Normal. This isn't the best Max Normal song, but it's pretty nasty. A vegan horrifying bed time story for children. Oh my god. He gets my vote this time.

5. Snoop Dogg - Who Am I (What's My Name?) vs.
Flo Rida ft. T-Pain "Low"
I love Snoop. I'm mad at Sweden for busting him for weed the last time he was here. He'll never come back. Ugh.

Dälek is incredible. Just...wow. And yes, they go the audio assault route. It's not meant to make you feel comfortable, and they attract heavy hitters as fans who even release their stuff. Looking at you, Mike Patton.

1. Control Machete - Ileso vs. Eminem "Space Bound"
This is the band that really sent me down the rap and hip hop road. Funny that it took Mexicans to do it. The key for me to appreciate rap and hip hop is always first the backing music, then the rap. I suppose that's entirely the wrong way to go about it, but it's how this happened. This band makes me feel badass. And I love hearing them in the odd series/movie. Although it's usually "Si Senor" they choose.

2. Snoop Dogg (feat. R. Kelly) - That's That Sh*t vs. The Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize
Oh man, I love Snoop, but Biggie's excellent use of Herb Alpert's "Rise" as sample is ****ing awesome.

3. Mos Def - Got vs. MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This
No contest. This album from Mos Def is perfect. I wish I could have nominated "Umi Says" but it's too pretty, But it wouldn't matter what I nominated, everything off it is great. "Got" is something I'm repeat-playing these days.

4. Eminem "Mockingbird" vs. Promoe - Poor Lonesome Homeboy
Again, no contest. Promoe's best, if my opinion. Sad, and beautiful.

5. Naughty By Nature - O.P.P. vs. Lisa Maffia "All Over"

6. Gangstagrass - I'm Gonna Put You Down vs. Pharoahe Monch - Queens
Hahahaha, **** yeah, break the rules and blend redneck with hood. So wrong, it's right.

Who knew bluegrass and rap went so well together. That's what happens when you flip the bird to the expected.

7. Eminem ft. Dr. Dre & 50 Cents "Crack a Bottle" vs. 2pac - Hit 'Em Up
Nice collaboration, but it pales to 2pac.

8. Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says (Get the F**k Up) vs. SlinCraze - Suhtadit
GOD that's a good Pharoahe Monch song. I wish I could vote for both. But nobody's going to vote for the Borwegian Sámi rapper. (like innuits. They basically have nothing but reindeer. And they developed their own singing style to call their reindeer, called "jojking".) This guy lives in a remote, very cold place in the world, and it's amazing he's making rap. He gets my vote THIS time. He wont' survive against that other song, so I have to give him a love vote before he exits.

That guy's famous now. I've still got his first album on CD. It's probably available in its entirety on YouTube. Very cool, odd stuff. Search for "Songs From The Mall". It's quirky and really cool. I prefer it to what he became eve though Die Antwoord is all edgy and ****.
