i'm SUPER GOOD at Jewel karaoke

here's a pic of my finger just seconds after i slammed it. it started turning a weird color and swelling immediately. my husband gave me an ice pack while i whimpered about never being able to cross stitch again.

it feels better today tho, i can bend it!

i took a pic of my lip but i aint posting it. it's impossible to capture the cut on my lip without it looking like i want to lick someone's snatch, basically

None of it was your fault. Sounds like a classic case of sabotage to me.
thanks, man! i sure did sabotage myself. i also managed to whack my shin with a stick when i was outside playing with my dog last night. i was like agggggggh ffuuuccckkk while my dog just stared at me wide eyed

hi nebbs, glad to see you're still around

If it makes you feel better I was letting the dogs out for toilet yesterday morning and one ran straight into my shin. His head is as hard as concrete. I might have said a bad word.

Now whenever you go to the restroom, you have to say "I'm going to take a sh*t in the yard."

As many people on here will know I suffer from a number of issues (depression, OCD, social anxiety etc) that take a real toll on me. Well another thing that has become an increasing issue for me is money.

My numerous problems mean that I am not currently able to really get any kind of job. That has been the case for a while and for several years I had been receiving disability benefits. Now the amount was actually fairly pitiful but it was at least something. Well last year the benefits were cut and despite several appeals that remains the case. So right now I don't really have any source of income. Now thankfully I have the full support of my mum. Without that I'd pretty much be out on the street which just highlights how ridiculous the decision to cut my benefits was given all the benefit cheats there are about.

I would still like to try and earn a bit of money obviously and just wondered if there are any people on here that earn money from home and in what ways they do so. Looking around the options available are not exactly plentiful. The type of things that initially jump out as being possibles are things like data entry and audio transcribing. Does anyone have any experience with those type of things or anything else?

I wasn't sure if this was really the place to put this, and it seems rather trivial compared to people talking about losing loved ones and serious health issues etc.

I have heard of people making extra money taking surveys but I don't know how real it is.
I've heard so as well

It's real, but difficult to make substantial amounts. I used to do this a lot, but found the surveys seemed to get longer and longer and that there are so many surveys I couldn't qualify for based on my situation. (Some surveys have you waste a lot of time on qualification questions only to find out that you don't qualify to even take the survey).

It's also good to find a reputable site - I'm not sure how that's done - I guess by looking up reviews and / or trying a few to see which ones pay out.

One site I used was called Toluna, which is still operational.

JD, an idea for you, how about online selling?

ebay, do you have anything you can sell, like collectibles or new stuff that you don't need. I've sold a lots of stuff on ebay and it's a good way to get some cash. Also if you have an area of expertise like (sports memorabilia, computers, electronics, collectibles, etc) it's possible to buy on ebay and then resell it for a profit on ebay. I've done it. Especially if you know how to fix things, or have a good sense of salesman ship, you can make money doing that.

You could also look into closed captioning films..might be more up the old alley since we all love movies and some of us have to read them

Yeah I looked at that a while back but seemed like it would take a lot of time and effort to make any kind of money at all. But I'll definitely have another look around.

The problem with that though, and anything really like data entry and transcribing, is me trying to actually find the energy/motivation/will/mindset to do these things enough to earn anything worthwhile. Again as some people on here know I struggle to do stuff like keep up with PMs, post reviews, keep my Poster a Day thread up-to-date etc because I just really struggle to push myself to do it. And that's stuff I enjoy.

I've got loads of stuff kicking about but don't know how much of it is actually worth anything. Plus my OCD/hoarding nature makes it tough for me to get rid of stuff. And I don't think I really have any kind of speciality that would allow me to buy and then sell on for profit.

Hadn't thought of that particular job. Had a quick look and it does seem to be a bit more hardcore and specialised; requiring qualifications, experience etc.

The only jobs in the real world I could even begin to think about being able to manage would be animal-related, particularly dogs. I adore dogs; they're pretty much my favourite thing in the world. A job where I just work with dogs and don't have to deal with any people would be ideal.

Hmm... sounds like you might start out selling on eBay (just to clear some clutter).
I won't lie - it takes some learning at first & work (mostly on the packaging / shipping end).

But if you can start to get "into" it, it becomes exciting which could help motivate you to learn and sell more. Being tech savvy is a benefit. (I wasn't when I started on eBay, but still managed to become a Seller - and I'm still not tech savvy - the camera I use to photo my items uses a floppy disc that holds a grand total of 6 photos!)
Best way to start would be watching some of the how to begin videos either on eBay or YouTube.

The dogs thing is interesting. There's dog walking (especially for busy working people or the elderly) and there's dog-sitting which is often combined with house sitting for people with pets who travel.

Kennel maid? I had a weekend job with a vet when I was a kid doing this. Quiet mornings feeding dogs and cats, cleaning kennel runs, letting them out for play time which is great because you get to play with them, bathing/grooming, sometimes assisting the vets. Other than the other staff, no human involvement. You could check out vet clinics, boarding kennels, breeders and dog/cat/chicken exhibitors.

Survey sites can work, but can also be incredibly frustrating. I'd recommend Amazon's mturk if you're looking to do them. It's mostly pennies, but people can make serious money on there, and Amazon keeps tabs on surveyors so you typically won't get the sh*tty ones (like other sites). Some people even make a living doing this stuff when used in conjunction with other sites, buuuuut it normally takes years of building up hits (1000 to 5000 on mturk) to get the lucrative stuff. Still, if you plug away a little day by day, you might thank yourself a couple of years from now.

If you do go with mturk, I highly recommend youtubing the hell out of it before taking surveys (you don't want to screw up your accepted/rejected hit ratio early on or it'll eliminate a lot of opportunities). Reddit is a great resource too, especially the r/hitsworthturkingfor, r/beermoney, and r/mturk subreddits. Also, use the Turkopticon plugin to easily identify the good surveyors from the bad.

Other popular sites like swagbucks, mintvine, etc. usually have the frustrating surveyors that disqualify you after like 20 minutes. But, some people find a way with them.

BTW, speaking from experience, audio transcription suuuuucks. It took me almost an hour to do 5 mins once. If you can get good at it, it does pay better than surveys.

The most legit home job might be answering phone calls. I hate talking on the phone though, so I've never tried it.
