Hm. This started at last for me. Just wasn't impressed with the opening lead. Then. That. Vocal. Came in. I thought the dude haHAHA OMG A FLUTE?! I thought he was just getting annoyed at the guitarist not keeping tempo, but no. That's Electrified Tiny Tim right there.
  11. Ricky Van Shelton - Somebody Lied

Where are we at now, 3? Not that anyone can reply before I submit this nom. I am torn on this one. I know what movie I want to source, but I've struggled for the better part of a 7-day week on finalizing a selection for your selective palates. I was able to narrow things down to two options: Manhattan and the one I've reluctantly selected. While I find Andrea & Hot Mink adorable, the opening number of this particular soundtrack may no't ring enough bells for those of you who have seen this movie.

I probably caught this movie around the age of 10. I'm guessing. I remember talking to my uncle about it one weekend. See, he was several years older than me. Well, he still is, so no don't get caught up in condolences. The prick is still around. Anyway, he was still in high school at the time and he was driving. We both shared an affinity for movies. For him, I guess it was probably just an excuse to get off the farm. He was like an older brother that I never had, so if I could hang out with him watching flicks, then bonus. He was driving down the dirt road one day and I was throwing movie titles out, asking if he had seen them. I shouted, "Revenge of the Nerds!?" He laughed and replied, "Heh... yeah. Dude got laid, didn't he?" I looked on in confusion wondering what chickens had to do with the movie..... He said, "Nevermind."

So! Without additional rambling, I present for your listening ear pleasures what should be an easily recognizable track from the classic 1984 teen raunch-comedy, Revenge of the Nerds.

Gleaming Spires - Are You Ready for the Sex Girls

(pretty sure this was Joel McHale's starting gig, I could be wrong on that one though)

Grats to HollowMan on getting their tune through to the Final

Round three up shortly...

Both jj and cap sit out this round, hopefully both will return for future rounds.

  1. Anna von Hausswolff - Källans återuppståndelse
Doubt she'll do well here but I do like a woman that handles an organ with aplomb
  2. kokushoku elegy - yume no naru koro
Musically this is more up my street
  3. Rex Defunctis - Alucarda
A decent enough opener for the round
  4. Kite - True Colors
Not entirely sure about the vocals but it was still a fairly good listen
  5. REM - Electrolite
REM very rarely disappoint but equally they very rarely make me sit up and listen
  6. The Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra
Would have possibly moved up the pecking order if it were the shorter single version
  7. Ozzy Osbourne - I Don't Wanna Stop
Not terrible but not Ozzy at his finest imo
  8. Electric Owls - Magic Show
Started off as if it might be interesting but sadly not really my cup of tea
  9. T.G. Sheppard - Do You Wanna Go To Heaven
Ok I guess but won't be memorable for me
  10. Sidewalks And Skeletons - Blood
Sorry, but those abrasive moments just don't do it for me
  11. Gleaming Spires - Are You Ready for the Sex Girls
Really sorry but I assume some history/affinity with the film improves this track somehow and I simply don't have any

I'm starting to remember why I don't normally do comments lol.

1 Kite - True Colors - I have entered this before. Let's see if we can get it to win this time around!

2 The Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra - Classic Steve Miller track!

3 Electric Owls - "Magic Show" - I like the production on this one. In a different round, maybe would have placed a bit lower. Alas...

4 Rex Defunctis - Alucarda - Not in the mood for doom today, but still ranks pretty high for me.

5 Gleaming Spires - Are You Ready for the Sex Girls - I am in fact ready for the sex girls.

6 Ozzy Osbourne - I Don't Wanna Stop - Not a great Ozzy tune, but this round was weak overall for me, so here it sits.

7 Anna von Hausswolff - Källans återuppståndelse - Better suited for film score, methinks.

8 REM - Electrolite - This REM tune was a miss for me.

9 kokushoku elegy - yume no naru koro - I like the music quite a bit, but the vocalist is slightly sharp throughout, which set my teeth on edge the entire time.

10 T.G. Sheppard ~ Do You Wanna Go To Heaven - We know how this goes, but it wasn't last this time!

11 Sidewalks And Skeletons - Blood - If I hadn't watched the video, this might have placed a slot or two above this. Alas...
