Nudity In Movies?

What a weird thread to bump....it's funny because in 2004 they had nudity in films, yet over the last ten years or so it seems like films were becoming more and more sanitized, homogeneous and bland. When an actress went nude for the last few years it was a big deal and it often led to an Oscar (McDormand in Nomadland Stone in Poor Things). So it's kinda gone from a marketing gimmick to now Award bait gimmick.

My take on anything is...is this a cliche and derivative. I don't think their is anything worse than going to a sexy movie and it's all atmosphere. Or the characters are attractive but the shots are so carefully ended and costumed it just takes you out of the film.

I will say Kings of Kindness, The Apprentice, and The Substance were all enhanced by having nudity in the stories. And I feel like Maxxxine was hurt by not having enough sex in it rather making it more about cameo's. But at the end of the day I'm happy we're going back to the direction where adults can watch adult entertainment and I hope Anora is excellent with nudity...because it's needed.

But in movies nudity is completely unnecessary.
What if the movie takes place in a nudist camp?

Yeah, nothing wrong with a dissolve, and it doesn't shift the earlier focus of the movie. And with nudity, one might constantly be looking for the next surprise. I must admit, I love seeing an expected naked lady in a movie, but I can't think of any movies where I think it improves it. If it's crucial to a story, it can take a few seconds to get the idea across outside of a few situations.

As for the question "why more female (sexual) nudity", perhaps it's interesting to consider from a photographic point of view that the torso/breasts is relatively close to the face, where the camera's pointing at.
It's usually enough to convey the idea of nudity, whereas filming between ones legs seems like a slightly more convoluted affair, especially in close-ups.

I suspect that most male actors simply don't want to show, although it seems less uncommon in European films and TV (and even more so in the 1970s and 1980s).
Personally I think it's cool if an actor entertains us with his...specifics, and OZ was the place to be (but OZ was awesome for many reasons).
