Kathleen Kennedy Talks 'Indy 4'

Now Playing Magazine
Indiana Jones 4
recently spoke with producer Kathleen Kennedy about the progress of Indy 4, and according to the magazine, all that remains to move forward is the final script.

"We're working on a screenplay," Kennedy states. "I know this sounds like something that we've been saying for 15 years, but I'm hoping that we're going to see something in a couple of months. Jeff Nathanson is working on the script right now...I will say this: If it comes in and we're all happy with it, it will be more than likely the next thing we do."

According to Kennedy, the script is set in the late 1940s, and despite Lucas and Spielberg's approval on Nathanson's draft, a certain amount of "finessing" is currently underway. "It's one thing to approve something," Kennedy offers, "it's another thing to say it's greenlit and we're shooting it."

As to Harrison Ford's age: "We're not writing the script as though he's 20 years old. You know, Sean Connery spent a lot of time in the Bond role and whatnot. I think it's great that we can go make another Indiana Jones movie and Indy can be a little older. I think playing with that is a good thing."

Wanna be in 'Fast and the Furious 3' ?

According to Movieweb (via) (Crash, Coach Carter) is seeking male actors of any ethnicity for the lead in the Universal Pictures feature film, Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo. The film is about an obsessive street racer named Shaun who is exiled to Tokyo after annoying the local police once too often.

Shaun is treated like an outsider and mocked for being a gai-jin, He is drawn to the subculture of drift racing, a dangerous and sometimes deadly sport that he masters with startling speed. In the process, Shaun makes a deadly enemy and meets the love of his life, Tani.

Tani is a stunning Japanese girl who attends the same school as Shaun in Tokyo. When they interact at first, she dismisses him until she realizes that he is an obsessive street racer as well. Chaos arises when Shaun finds out that she is in fact D.K.'s girlfriend (the "Drift King" of Tokyo). Shaun enrages D.K. by challenging him to a drift race, while at the same time forming a friendship with Tani, which eventually evolves into a forbidden romance.

Reevise (a.k.a. Twinkie) is a fellow classmate of Shaun, who is the first to befriend him in Tokyo. He too is car-crazy and drives a Nissan S15 Silvia. Initially Shaun is rude to Reevise, claiming "he doesn't need friends", but soon they develop a friendship as Reevise tutors Shaun on Japanese culture as well drift racing.

Jordana Brewster Cast in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Prequel

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
According to MovieWeb (via Bloody Disgusting), Jordana Brewster ("The Fast and the Furious") is confirmed to play the lead in the Texas Chainsaw Masscare Prequel. Jonathan Liebesman is going back in time, to direct the untitled "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel that Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line Cinema.

Of course we all know that Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing via Platinum Dunes. I guess we can all expect alot of gore and some guy with a human skin mask.

The story will go back to his roots to explain why he turned out the way he did. Which sort of ruins the mystery of the character if you ask me. But than again this isn't even the Sawyer we all know and love but a character developed by Bay and company.

Unfortunately 'Summer' Doesn't Wanna Seem to End

Comingsoon.net has reported (via) that Sony's Screen Gems is moving forward on the third installment in the "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" franchise, sans Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Titled I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, the film is expected to hit theaters in the fall of 2006. Here's how the site describes the story:

Four teens from a small Colorado town will be victimized by a phantom menace one year after a July Fourth prank gone awry kills one of their buddies. Against the protestation of one of them, the group agree to keep this secret, only to find their friendships torn apart from the strain. The next Independence Day, just before the town's annual carnival, the four receive intimidating communiqués indicating someone is aware of what happened before. The group suspect the cousin of the dead friend, only to discover they are very much on the wrong track. Can the friends survive and figure out the identity of their tormentor before they end up dead themselves?

Filming will begin in Utah at the end of August, under the direction of helmer Damon Santostefano (Three to Tango), from a script by Michael Weiss

'Hollow Man' & 'Road House' Sequels

Variety has reported, (via) that Sony's Screen Gems is planning Hollow Man 2 and Road House 2 - Last Call. It has not yet been determined whether they'll be released through a Sony label or go direct to video.

Hollow Man 2, directed by Claudio Fah, is the sequel to the Columbia Pictures 2000 film, which told the story of a group of scientists who discover a way to make people invisible. The script was written by Joel Soisson.

Red Wagon's Douglas Wick is producing with David Lancaster and Vicky Southeran.

Road House 2 will be directed by Scott Ziehl; no writer has yet been attached to the project.

Yoram Pelman is producing the pic, which will take off where MGM's original Patrick Swayze starrer, about a tough bouncer hired to tame a dirty bar, left off.

Paramount Takes You Back to 'Summer School'

Paramount Pictures is going back to Summer School, setting up a remake of the 1987 Mark Harmon comedy, reports Variety.

The studio has hired the writing team of Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel to pen the script, which will cover the chaotic summer season in high school life, centering on a hard-nosed teacher aiming to be the next principal and the student who becomes his nemesis in achieving that goal.

It's the second Paramount assignment for Pennekamp and Turpel, who are also writing Duck for President for the studio and Nickelodeon. The pair also recently made a blind script deal with Warner Bros. Pictures.

The original Summer School, directed by Carl Reiner, followed the story of a high school gym teacher forced to ditch his summer plans to teach a remedial English class for the school misfits.

A More Gorier 'Land of the Dead' Trailer
Land of the Dead

Yes I know that the film has already came out, and probably even left some theaters (which sucks) but horrorfans should definitely check out this little beauty.

The recently released 'uncut' trailer had 2 or 3 really gory scenes. Well, this little baby is called "Kill Clip" and has about 20 seconds of pure uncensored gore. Be warned, the trailer is NOT for children or people with a weak stomach.

You can watch the QuickTime Trailer

Chris Tucker Holding Up Production for 'Rush Hour 3'?

The Associated Press (Via) caught up with Jackie Chan, who says that Rush Hour 3 is not moving forward because his co-star of the first two films, Chris Tucker, is making too many demands.

"He wants too much power. New Line Cinema hasn't obliged. He wants final editing rights and the final look at the movie and so on," Chan said.

Chan called Tucker a "good friend" but questioned whether he had the stature to be so demanding.

"He's still a new actor," Chan added. "How many movies has he made? Two movies have already made him very famous and made him a lot of money."

"He needs to learn slowly," he added.

Transporter 2 has received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA (for intense sequences of violent action, sexual content, partial nudity and brief language).

Silent Hill Set Photos

Some new stills from the set of the upcoming movie adaptation of Silent Hill are now online.

Nothing really earth shattering, but some nice production design is evident. Probably the biggest name attached to the project is Sean Bean

The movie is due in theaters sometime next year.

'Gladiator' Sequel in the Works

"Gladiator" co-star, Djimon Hounsou, says that despite Russell Crowe's character dying in the first movie, there might still be a sequel in the future, AHN reports
Speaking in New York to promote his latest film The Island, Hounsou said "definitely the desire is to do a sequel" to Gladiator.

He acknowledged it would be hard for Crowe to return as Maximus given his dramatic death at the end of the first film, but he said producers were still working on the script and casting decisions.
"They're not happy about what they have for now, so they're still working on it. It's still in development," said Hounsou, adding that he expects to reprise his role as Juba.
"I would probably be in the center of it as one of the leads," he said.

'Ice Age 2: The Meltdown' - Advance One Sheet

Magneto to Go Solo

XMenFilms.net reports that a spin-off film focusing on the early years of Magneto is currently in development.

20th Century Fox and Screenwriter Sheldon Turner, are currently working on bringing the mutant known as Magneto to the big screen in his own spin-off film! Turner's intent for the film is to examine Magneto's psychological roots.

The plot will deal with the character's friendship turned sour with Charles Xavier; the man who went on to form the team known as the X-Men! "It's going to take place from 1939 Auschwitz up to 1955 or so," says Turner. This will make the film a period prequel to X-MEN. The film will chronicle the character's early life, and what turned him against humans.

As of now, its targeted theatrical release date is yet TBA.

'Bourne Ultimatum' Gets a Writer

Universal has inked Tony Gilroy (Armageddon, Proof Of Life,The Devil's Advocate) to pen The Bourne Ultimatum in a deal believed to be worth just north of $2 million, reports Variety.

The pact is the first step in getting the third installment of the successful spy franchise off the ground.

Ultimatum is the third Robert Ludlum adaptation for Gilroy after 2002's The Bourne Identity and last year's The Bourne Supremacy. But both pics have been loose adaptations, picking up Ludlum's creation of a master assassin who has lost his memory.

Matt Damon has publicly expressed interest in reprising his role as Jason Bourne, but no deal is expected until after Gilroy's script comes back in.

Likewise, studio is holding off discussions on who'll direct. The Bourne Identity was helmed by Doug Liman, while Paul Greengrass directed last year's The Bourne Supremacy.

Bruce Campbell Talks Evil Dead 4 and Bubba Nosferatu

Bubba Ho-Tep
Campbell revealed to AICN that he would return to the "Evil Dead" franchise as soon as "Sam Raimi stops making wheelbarrows of money."

Unfortunately, Bruce had some bad news for fans of the proposed sequel to "Bubba Ho-Tep", titled Bubba Nosferatu. Apparently the studio who owned the rights to the movie was bought out, and the film is less likely to get made because of it!

'Nightwatch' Pushed Back to Late '05

According to Fangoria, Night Watch will be yanked from its release date of July 29th and instead be released sometime in the fourth quarter of 2005, just two weeks before the movie’s scheduled U.S. release.

Nightwatch
No official explanation has been given for the switch, but the fall/winter berth will mean less competition from the summer FX behemoths, which may have contributed to the lower-than-hoped-for grosses for Land of the Dead and Dark Water.

The other films are apparently still going through as planned. Day Watch is in post production and Dusk Watch will roll soon. There have also been reports that Dusk Watch will be filmed partially in English. I don't know how that fits the story or if they are just doing that to appease American audiences.

Contact Music spoke with Emilio Estevez who dropped a bombshell: John Hughes has an idea for The Breakfast Club 2.

"John's got an idea for a sequel - mature aged students at college, all doing time again - for some reason or another," he reveals.

"The twist would be that we're all the polar opposites of how we were in the original. Judd [Nelson], for instance, would now be the straight-laced one. I'm definitely in. If it happens, I'm there."

Watch Out... 'The Teenage Mutant Teenage Turtles' are Back !

According to www.ninjaturtles.com, (via)the green light is on for TMNT 4. The ninja turtle production team is working with IMAGI and hopes for a 2007 release. This time, instead of live actors the film will be done in CGI. Here's the reason why...

"Computer animation is a direction that we haven't taken the TMNT in yet, thus its potential intrigues us. CG allows us to take the Turtles to dramatically different areas than we could go with live-action. Computer animation gives us complete freedom to tell a great story, and you'll definitely see the TMNT doing things that they haven't done before in movies!"

Christian Bale Talks Batman 2 and Robin

MTV sat down with Christian Bale and talked about what villian he wants in the sequel and Robin. Here's a preview:

"I want to see the Joker, because I think it will be a very different kind of Joker than people have seen before,"

Thank God, there was no Robin," Bale says. "You really don't need him because Robin makes it campy and not dark."

Thank God he or Nolan wants Robin in the sequel. We all "like" Robin but with Nolan's approach to the Batman universe, Batman have a sidekick would be a complete and utter JOKE. (No pun intended

'Gladiator 2' with Crowe a No Show

A Sequel to Oscar-winning swords and sandals movie Gladiator is being planned. But unless Russell Crowe's character is resurrected from the grave the actor won't be appearing.

Crowe won an Oscar for his role in the original film, but both he and co-star Joaquin Phoenix's characters were bumped off at the end.
G2 is said to take place years after the first film, with the African slave Juba, played by Djimon Hounsou, thought to be a key character.

Maybe Crowe can return as an apparition, Ben Kenobi-style, telling future Romans to "use the sword".

Cameron Diaz Turns Down 'Wonder Woman'

According to UK online mag Female First, Cameron Diaz has reportedly turned down the role of Wonder Woman. Movie bosses had approached the stunning actress to play the scantily clad beauty in an upcoming reworking of the comic book heroine - but she refused because she wants more serious roles.

The 32-year-old blonde - who is romancing heartthrob singer Justin Timberlake - didn't even look at the script when it was sent to her, according to a report in Britain's Daily Star newspaper.
The screen beauty was said to have rejected the offer immediately.

A source revealed: "An approach was made to Cameron but she turned it down flat.
"It was not a firm offer, more that the producers wanted to sound her out as a possibility

New Line Cinema Seeking Director for "Last House" Remake

A director is being sought to helm a redux of Wes Craven's depraved early '70s classic Last House on the Left reports Dread Central. Craven is currently overseeing Alexandre Aja's efforts to remake Craven's "The Hills Have Eyes" so its no surprise that he's doing the same for another of his pre-"Nightmare" flicks.

Penned by screenwriter Mark Haslett for New Line Cinema, the log line for Haslett's approach sticks close with the source material focusing on two young girls who venture in to the big city and are kidnapped by some deranged individuals. Their family then seeks revenge in, according to our source, a "haunted house."

Haslett was part of the development staff behind "Freddy vs. Jason" and "Jason X". Its unlikely film that will vaguely resemble the raw power of the 1972 original which caused it to be either banned or severely restricted in several countries.

Hellboy Creator Discusses 'Hellboy 2'

Hellboy
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola says that the upcoming sequel Hellboy 2 will deal with folklore and mythology. "Wherein the first film was sort of the H.P. Lovecraft kind of monsters and the Nazis and the mad-scientist stuff, this one is geared much more toward the folklore element of the Hellboy [comics], with the kind of fairies and the Old-World stuff," Mignola told Sci-Fi Wire.

Mignola says that he worked with Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro to develop the sequel's story. "That really is a big element of the Hellboy stories, and that element was completely not in the first film. So the idea of the second film would be sort of the other half of the Hellboy world." said Mignola. "I don't know that Russian [mythology will figure in] so much, but certainly that idea of these ancient creatures that have been kind of shoved out of the mainstream and are living underground [will]. It's about that kind of stuff."

Mignola says that they tried to introduce character Roger the Homunculus into the story but failed. "We had tried to work it out, because Guillermo loves that character," Mignola said. "We tried to work out a storyline about Roger, and it just didn't work. So we opted to go the folklore route instead."

Jay and Slent Bob are Back...at Degrassi

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
MTV reports that Director/writer/actor Kevin Smith, loyal accomplice Jason Mewes and singer/occasional actress Alanis Morissette will guest star on
U.S. airwaves next month in a special three-episode arc of the cable TV program "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Smith and Mewes will appear as themselves portraying their cult-classic creations Jay and Silent Bob (as seen in Clerks, Mallrats and the other films in the so-called "New Jersey" series), while Morissette will step down off the heavenly cloud she inhabited in Dogma to play the only high school principal willing to give diplomas to the infamous Quick Stop loiterers.

The plot has Smith and Mewes traveling to the Great White North to film a fictional sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back ,entitled "Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh!" In the film, the fast-talking drug dealer and his mute friend make a pilgrimage to their neighboring country when they discover that it contains the only high school that will allow them to go back and get their diplomas. With Smith selecting Degrassi as the ideal location for the film shoot, the school's residents take jobs on both sides of the camera and interact with Smith, Mewes and Morissette (winkingly appearing as herself playing a character in the fictional movie).

"The plot of the movie within the show is so funny," Smith said in a statement, "it almost makes me want to shoot the flick for real."

The episodes will air on cable channel the N at 8 p.m. ET on August 12, 19 and 26.

According to the show's production company, plans are currently under way to have Smith return for a very special episode of season five, in which he may premiere "Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh!" at the high school.

Me too. I believe Jurassic Park is still in the developing stages. Although unlike before, Speilberg will have nothing whatsoever to do with this one.
