Imagination - Just An Illusion - I adore this song. I've nominated this and another Imagination song before and they never do very well, but I think they're great.

Metric - Waves - Really liked this. Fun and upbeat, it fit my mood perfectly. Not too often an unknown song sits so well with me first time around.

Poets of the Fall - Lift - A very familiar sound. It's OK, at least it feels like it's driving forwards.

Dlina Volny - Whatever Happens Next - I don't really know how I feel about this song. I think like it, but not enough to know I like it and I've listened to it twice now. Odd.

Neil Diamond - Longfellow Serenade - It's Neil and so it sounds like Neil. Not a bad thing, but unless it's a previously heard favouite, they all sound pretty much the same to me.

Flo Rida ft. David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me - Not terrible but so much sounds like this and it's not great. This could be Black Eye Peas, which isn't in its favour.

Flickerstick - Pistol In My Hand - This was Ok but went on too long for me. A good minute or two before the end I was hoping he'd pull the trigger.

Round 14 Nomination

Texas - Black Eyed Boy

Apologies for being slightly late, the wife's father had a minor stroke yesterday evening so am a little bit tired and out-of-sorts this morning. Thankfully no further occurrences overnight so hopefully that's the end of that 'episode' and he can recover quickly and fully.

Anyway, more sad news in that no votes were cast by either Thief or Yin but, as ever, move on we must regardless....

1st - Metric - Waves (30 pts)

2nd - Poets of the Fall - Lift (25 pts)
3rd - Imagination - Just An Illusion (19 pts)
3rd - Dlina Volny - Whatever Happens Next (19 pts)
5th - Flo Rida ft. David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me (18 pts)

Don't dislike any of them.
  1. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
  2. Dust - Walk In The Soft Rain
  3. dEUS - Hotellounge (Be The Death Of Me)
  4. Texas - Black Eyed Boy
  5. Ricky Van Shelton - The Picture
  6. wednesday campanella - alice

Texas - Black Eyed Boy - I never really 'got' Texas and didn't see what many others did in them in the 90's, but this is a great song.

Dust - Walk In The Soft Rain - Really enjoyed this. Strong start.

dEUS - Hotellounge (Be The Death Of Me) - Felt like it was trying really hard but I just didn't gel with it. Very 90's and feels like something I should like, but I just don't. Like I said, they're just trying too hard.

Lady Antebellum - Need You Now - Feels too country for my tastes today, though I did like the slide guitar at the end.

wednesday campanella - alice - Cheery and upbeat but sounds like a pop song version of a videogame.

Ricky Van Shelton - The Picture - If Lady Antenbellum was a little too country, this is everything country I can't stand. Sorry.

Hope your father in law has a quick recovery, Chypmunk.

Round 14:

1. dEUS - Hotellounge (Be The Death Of Me): A song that checks boxes found in my favorites: tells a good story, has a '90s sound and a near-epic length.
2. Texas - Black Eyed Boy: I like every song I've heard from this band so far, including this one, which I discovered thanks to the British version of The Office, of all things.
3. wednesday campanella - alice: Another fun Japanese pop song in this game. I love how precise it is.
4. Dust - Walk In The Soft Rain: Some good guitar riffs in this one. It's a helpful pick because I like the whole stoner/sludge rock movement, but there are so many bands in it and no good way to tell which ones are worth checking out or not.
5. Ricky Van Shelton - The Picture: Nice vocals and lyrics, but the song didn't leave much of an impression overall.
6. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now: Sorry, but I've tried to get into pop country, and despite liking a few songs here and there, it's just not for me.

I was thinking about Lionel Richie for the next round, and...
...Oh.

I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I hope he's doing okay and he's up and around soon.

Anyway, more sad news in that no votes were cast by either Thief or Yin but, as ever, move on we must regardless....
