Never Let Me Go, it's sci fi, yet it doesn't feel like sci fi.

It's not a movie that its story is meant to be taken literally, the story is more of a grid work on which human emotions can be explored. In effect it takes place in an alternative reality, if you will.

i cant really make out what the first poster is...is it a horror?
According to the google search I just did, it's a black comedy.

I've never heard of it before, but it sounds like something I'll probably like.

I was way off when I felt as if your nomination might be The Zero Theorem, which was based solely on your avoidance of responding to my Zero Dark Thirty inquiry (they sort of have similar names) haha.

It was Donnie Darko that I had considered. I haven't seen The Zero Theorem or Zero Dark Thirty.

The City of Lost Children is also a sci fi, so I'm going to watch that one before I send in my sci fi countdown list.

If you like weird sci-fi films like Brazil you might want to watch The Zero Theorem (it's also from Terry Gilliam) for the Sci-Fi Countdown, but it seems to be a bit divisive. I thought it was just okay, but a lot of people I've talked to seem to either love or hate it.

I've been meaning to rewatch City of Lost Children for the Sci-Fi Countdown too, so I'm glad it was nominated for this as well. Two birds, one stone sort of thing.

Women will be your undoing, Pépé
that is a helluva list! Several I've been dying to see and never got to,(Withnail & I and Joe), two I haven't seen since they came out (Romper Stomper and U-Turn), a great Korean film (Man From Nowhere), a true classic (Casablanca) and several I've never hear of but very curious to see.

Gonna be quite the HOF!!

Thanks for mentioning it, I just looked it up, and it sounds pretty cool to me, so I will try to squeeze it before I send in my sci fi list.

As far as my nom, Joe, I've been wanting to nominate for a while but could never find a good link. Pm me if you need the link, and it's also on Netflix DVD.

Probably a coincidence but Resnais is a highlight on Filmstruck this month and you can find Hiroshima there. Sorry that doesn't help my European friends.

I just checked and I need help with streaming links for these movies:

Joe (Avildsen, 1970)...Nominated by Cricket

Y Tu Mama Tambien (Cauron, 2001)...Nominated by Camo

Sanshiro Sugata (Kurosawa, 1943)...Nominated by Nope

Romper Stomper (Wright, 1992)...Nominated by Miss Vicky

Just something I wanted to mention before I forget, although it's probably goofy.

Bogart's character in Casablanca reminded me of De Niro's character in Casino.

Tyler isn't here! Tyler went away! Tyler's gone!
A big warm welcome to new member RoyaleWitCheese who will be joining us. He understands the commitment and has sent his nomination. I think he will do very well.
Thanks cricket, I'll do my best, watching movies shouldn't be an issue....
