Your 10 worst/best films of the 2010s

Tools

You must be an animation fan like me. I loved Toy Story 3 and 4, Inside Out was great too. Also nice that Mary and Max is in your profile top ten, that’s a fantastic movie.
You can definitely say that. I am eventually planning to do a video on my youtube channel where I countdown my top 30 favorite animated movies. But there are some animated films I have yet to see that I want to check out before doing so.

Things like:
Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse, A Silent Voice, Promare, Weathering with You, Millennium Actress, The Breadwinner, etc.

You seem to like social cinema much more than me, and a surprising number of Indian movies.

I do! If you check out my favorite films list on Mubi, you will see that I'm very much into Japanese, Chinese and Indian cinema. In general films that deal with social-political issues appeal to my sensibilities.

Aren't you also a big fan of Japanese cinema (especially B-movies/cult stuff which unfortunately I'm not into at all)?

We studied a couple Japanese directors in film history class in college ("history" is a misnomer, it was more about film directing) and I have to say that I hated everything they made.

It's not that it's *bad* in an absolute sense I suppose, it's just that it's based on a culture of immediate showing of extreme emotion, or something.

Reminds me a little of why I don't like Manga. Just a different culture over there.

When they have a cowboy, they want a poet.
They'll say "I don't care if he's a poet or cowboy, so long as he's a nice guy. But oh, I'm so attracted to that bad guy over there."
Understand this last part, and you'll get them all.
