"HELP" I cant remember

Please help me remember the name of this movie,
Im guessing 1984-1986 being around the time that I remember viewing
it.
Heres what I can recall from the storyline
The main Character whom is a Wealthy man marries a women, she doesnt
love him at all just wants the money
her plan is to somehow leave him (divorce?) and take his money and
spend it with her boyfriend who is
waiting in the wings,
He (the husband) somehow overhears her plot (I think??? while
listening in on a
phone conversation with the boyfriend)
the husband does'nt disclose to her that he now knows her secret, He
instead get into an accident and while in the hospital
the doctors tell the wife that the husband is actually physically
fine but in a catatonic state, vegetable like however anything
can possibly shake or jarr him right out of it, only time will tell.
The movie continues with her trying to see if the husband is
faking, which she suspect's. while she's constantly heading to the other
side of town for
rendezvous with the boyfriend, she can no longer get ahold of any of
his money, and a early divorce would have her leaving the marriage
with what she came into it with (nothing) so her ploys become ever
more risque' ( I think she stabs him in he leg with a needle to see
if she would get a reaction)
she slaps his face so very hard (no reaction) some lude acts I
believe she has sex with the boyfriend right in front of the
husband, he never even flinches, she threatens to push him and the
wheelchair down a flight of stairs of their home/mansion to see of
she might get a reaction (which i think she does???)
The home is equipped with a elevator. one evening at home while
having a romp with either the boyfriend or somebody else downstairs.
she hears the elevator start up to descend to the ground floor, she
is scared but nearly relieved if in fact the husband has decided to
quit faking, walk, and use the elevatgor to come downstairs to kick
some butt and throw this lover out of his house, when the elevator
stops and the doors open, its empty...she nearly going out of her
mind
I only remember the ending, where the doctor is called to the house
for some reason, he again tells her he is as strong as a 19yr old
and that he can live many years
as a catatonic 30-50 additional years, she gets pissed and decides
she cant hang around that long for him to die so she can collect, so
she packs the car and takes off. Just as the movie begins to fades
to black, the cameras comes in tight on his eyes and he blinks. END!

I think she grew up poor, "on the other side of town" or "across the
tracks" (so to speak) and had dreams of marrying rich for the money
I remember her heading to the other side of town alot for rendezvous
with the boyfriend
there may have been an initial murder plot, i dont remember

...I thought the husband was actor "Peter Gallagher"
...This movie is not "Analyze This"
...This movie is not "Where the money is" with Paul newman

Sounds like an amalgum of Gaslight, Diabolique, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Man with Two Brains and Slueth.

Don't recall any such movie, but if you saw it on cable TV in the '80s, it could just as well be an episode of HBO's "The Hitchhiker" (1983-1991), or something similar.
