What movie genre would your life be?

A confession that meant....nothing...

I've never heard of a genre called a confession that meant nothing 😂

Well I hope the psychological horror part of your life will pass. What genre would you like your life to be? Like me I would like to find myself in the middle of a chick flick with Denise Richards and Sharon stone 😛
If anything, I think it’s getting/got better over the last few years, it used to be good ole torture porn-level horror. (Being half-sarcastic, but, yeah….)

Finding it very hard to answer the question. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind being in the middle of Denise and Sharon, either, though a ‘chick flick’ is a loose-ish term, imo. Maybe I’d pick a spiritual combination of Lynch and Fincher, a nerdy character-driven sci-fi like Primer (but full of those Lynch-meets-Fincher vibes). Thinking along those lines.

I would also like my life to be more spiritual. Answering my own question seriously, I think I would like to have my life be as genre of a spiritual adventure film or something. As much as I love David lynch wouldn't it be an unnerving alienating life to be in a genre like that? I would s*** myself

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Not sure if I wanna know what @MovieGal would say.

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

That’s a fair point. I guess I find that this sense of alienation, the otherness/difference, in postmodern speak, to be omnipresent in life anyway, so I wouldn’t mind more of it. That said, I don’t think that’s all there is to Lynch, he has a wonderful vivacity and dreaminess to him (the robins at the end of Blue Velvet and whatnot) that I wouldn’t mind replicating in life. Incidentally, just discussed this with my mother this morning. I was feeding the squirrels in my garden and that momentarily gave me that Lynchian robin feeling. Who knows.

Yeah they're definitely are elements of surrealistic beauty in his films. Not a David lynch film but Donnie Darko had a profound effect on me, it was filmed in a way where things looked slightly more colorful and dream-like I find it hard to describe. Definitely know where you're coming from though

A car chase movie, but with people who don't have their driver's license and cant afford to buy anything but the steering wheels.

Matthew bodrick would fit perfectly in that genre then 😅

My life is a pure ACTION/COMEDY ride

YUCK!

I love those films and so i love "Pi" or "ARQ" (a movie, obviously not entirely understood by its audience) but PRIMER was way too complicated in my opinion so i did not enjoy that movie in any way. The only reason i actually kept watching it to the end was my hope to finally understand wtf is going on, coz i already lost track with that second or third "time-jump" there.

That movie relies way too heavy on mathematics, in my opinion. Now i LOVE quantum-physics, but i HATE math!

If i am way too busy trying to follow a movie´s story, being busy to the point of becoming unable to actually "enjoy" a movie, then the movie is in my opinion "not good" or "absolutely terrible".

There may be movies becoming better to understand the more you watch them, but PRIMER was so ******* boring, confusing and complex, that i would never bother with it ever again.

it could also be because i suck at math.

I prefer Primer to Pi and ARQ, though I’m a fan of that sort of thing overall so will watch anything. I also love both maths and quantum physics, but each to his own. I don’t know if you should bother actually deciphering Primer — arguably it’s perfectly enjoyable without understanding every single plot point — but there is a pretty good diagram online that illustrates what happens in Primer pretty clearly.

To be honest, i am not sure if i dislike/hate PRIMER or actually dislike/hate myself for not understanding it the first time i watched it.

I am also not sure what keeps me from giving it another try nd if it´s really the "boring" aspect of it.

I guess i am too scared to find out i watch it another 5 times and still feel as dumb as the first time.

I would throw a spin on this topic, because, life ain't so simple as being a genre in and of itself. You could say that people are not that one dimensional, most people anyway. Each chapter of your life could be a different genre and say you don't like the genre you are traveling through on your path of life you might actively work to enter the genre you prefer. But then say the world is working against you to keep you in that genre, although you dont belong there.

I dont see life like its a movie or a show but so many people do these days and I say thats really screwed up. I dont think in allegory or communicate in innuendo, I stay practical and skeptical and sober of what is real. If you get lost in translations you'll get a stomping by those without muddled minds.

But if I just had to think of life in terms of synonyms I would choose to use money as the central measure of all movement of energies, because, you can take those movements in the progression of each segment of time and precisely determine what energy went where and if you look at energy and time in the strict terms of money and currency then reality becomes like granite.
