Here's another shot from a movie directed by the same director that should help:

No help at all. I don't watch old musicals. Citizen is the only possible person on the forum that could get this.

In the first photo is Elsa Lanchester and next to her looks to be Ida Lupino, (though I'm not totally sure), if so that would be Ladies in Retirement.

I think the bottom photo is from the biopic of composer Franz Listz so would be Song Without End (but it's been a real long time since I seen that one)...

So I guess the director would be Charles Vidor?

BTW I'm guess the middle photo based on the costume is from Hans Christan Anderson?
