Idea pitch: MoFo Top 100 (or 50) Videogames Countdown

Actually i won't be voting for any but Fifa, PES and i'm sure the Madden games or whatever are a weird case. I'd probably say PES 6 was the one i played most but it would be weird saying Fifa 2008 or something was my favourite.

Once I get back from my wisdom tooth adventure this afternoon, I'll give this some more serious thought.

Probably be off my head on painkillers while thinking, but that's half the fun!

I see that we are completely tied in the 50 and 100 categories. I guess whichever one gets the next vote will be the one we go with. Let's all wait in excitement!

Again i think it should be up to the host and possibly using that rule Slappy brought up: at least 25 points and on at least 2 lists. Don't think there's much point stretching it to 100 if there's loads of ties and loads of 1 vote games with low point totals.

It's up to Tacitus though.

Good point Camo, I guess at this point we can aim for 100 but depending on just how many lists are submitted Tac can call whether it'll be 100 or 50.

Ok then, what about things to exclude?

Porny stuff, obviously, but also Facebook stuff? Personally I'd vote to include phone/mobile games - amongst the free-to-pay swill there are some proper classics.

I know I won't be including any Facebook or mobile games. If someone really feels compelled to then I think they should be allowed.

Mobile phone games should be included... Facebook games too, there are some out there worthy of a vote or two though I won't be doing any of them myself.
But yeah, as Tatty mentioned, porn stuff should be excluded. We don't use porn in the movie countdowns, so why include them in a games countdown.
Racy stuff and more adult games, yes... like Duke Nukem and GTA for example... but not full on pornography games.

Any restrictions or categories? Formatting regulations? For example, are we ranking our individual lists, grouping by timeline, platform, genre, or any other means of sorting or is this free-for-all where Pac-Man competes with Skyrim? In cases where a game is cross-platform or even arcade vs home console, are we listing that as a qualifier?

Or just point me to a similar setup already on the forums (I see references to a music list), and I can probably read between the lines there.


This is all new to me as the only game I've taken part in was a music list thing when I first joined.

Please be 100. It will give older games a fighting chance to make this list as well. Most of mine will be older as well.

It's just any game, at least that's how we've done all of the other Countdowns. Restricting it to console, genre, etc would result in less participation and there's already a limited amount compared to the Movie Countdowns. The only type of games we can't vote on so far are porn games, Tacitus may add others later though the rules haven't been completely fleshed out.
