Lost in never never land
I was wondering if anyone had any insight with this film.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0464141/

That is the IMDB link for it, and it comes out in wide release in the US next weekend. It has one several award at film festivals, and one of the producers for it is Del Toro. It looks like it could be a very interesting, well done, horror film.

Chicks dig Lord of the Rings, Randal
Indeed, I am very intrigued by this. I can't wait to go see it, hopefully this weekend.

looks great

saw it last night. was pretty good movie...

I have read the movie's plot and all I can say is that I find it interesting.

Warning contains spoiler/end of film…

I have a few different theories for the death of the child and can’t figure which one is right... Did the elderly woman who pretended to be a social worker kill the child at the party, did his adoptive mother knock him down the stairs by accident when searching for him (a few suggestive shots of this) or did the ghosts kill him? ... Any thoughts, watched it last night and it’s bugging me.

His mother knocked him down the stairs, It was definitely an accident.

Does that mean it was a 6 out of 10 or a 9 out of 10, just curious?
If you liked 'The Others' you'll like this too, it's full of creepy suspense, and brilliantly acted.

Yes it's very similar in tone... I would certainly class it as among the same quality but wouldn’t lump it together with Pans Labyrinth and the Devils Backbone as it's not directed by Del Toro and it's not centred around the Spanish civil war, just a good old fashioned horror tale. Very much like the devils backbone just without the politics.

If you haven't seen it already, and you like Spanish horror/thrillers then I recommend 'Tesis' the film Alejandro Amenabar made before 'The Others'. Plus 'Intacto' directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Both great films.

Oooh, a film by director of 28 Weeks Later put alongside another great film! Intriguing.... any non-spoiler details?

The plot is quite complex (though not convoluted), and revolves around luck. Max Von Sydow plays a character known simply as 'The Jew', he is the luckiest man on the planet (I wont tell you why, it's a spoiler, but the reason is brilliant) and has other similarly lucky associates, whom he lives with in a casino. These people have the power to remove someone's luck simply by touching them, hence their employment.

I wont tell you anymore than that, except 'The Jew' removes the luck of his most trusted associate at the start of the film. Said associate then sets about finding someone else with the gift, (the sole survivor of an air disaster) whom he mentors through a series of ingenious chance games against other similarly lucky competitors. This all leads to a showdown with 'The Jew'.

Don't worry, there's no spoilers in there.

Dissapearing Pen Trick is #1
ill check out intacto...sounds intresting, but as far as The Orphanage goes, thats a pretty good scary/thriller movie. I don't mind reading the subtitles at all and it still made an impact on me. One of the better horror movies to come out recently.
