2016 in Film

Can I ask why? I found it extremely generic and not very scary.
I enjoy Ouija as well... yes it's generic and cliché but I dig this stuff! I'm an horror fanatic yo

out of the blockbuster films I am only looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse

non blockbuster films coming out in 2016 that seem interesting:

Nocturnal Animals directed by Tom Ford
Story of My Life directed by Dennis Villeneuve
The Girl on a Train (Tate Taylor)
Passengers (Morten Tyldum)
Demolition (Jean Marc Vallee)
It's Only the End of the World (Xavier Dolan)
The Light Between Oceans (Derek Cianfrance)

Blockbusters & sequels is all I see.
Blockbusters & sequels is all I hear.
Blockbusters & sequels is all I hate.
Blockbusters & sequels I don't await!

Please, somebody paste a list of arthouse films to come out in 2016.
Haneke
Kiarostami
Carax
Dolan x2
Malick
Refn
Verhoeven
Campos

Just the directors I'm familiar with.

Verhoeven is arthouse? These are the moments when I realize I have no idea what the term means.
I was just listing things that weren't blockbusters. Art film is different from comedy and drama in that it doesn't abide by the same conventions of narrative, plot, character, motive, etc.

Fair enough. I just think sometimes genre directors get listed as above mainstream by people who don't want to appear to like mainstream films. I would not only put Verhoeven in this category but I would say he makes B level movies for the masses.

Not a lot I'm looking forward to next year, except Coen Brothers movie, Nemo 2, Star Wars, and Zootopia might be good. Captain America and Suicide Squad might be good, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were just complete garbage.

some people seem to forget about a certain Marvel movie coming November 4th

I would of been perfectly fine with Joaquin Pheonix as Strange but let's be honest here. Cumberbatch has the look down pat.

Literally all the superhero films this year, Independence Day: Resurgence, Zootopia, Star Trek Beyond, Assassins Creed, Bourne 5, The Magnificent Seven remake, Star Wars; Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, The BFG (I liked the book when I was a kid, lol), Finding Dory (childhood memories :-)), Now You See Me 2, Snowden.
I've already seen The Revenant and The Hateful Eight, or those would have been in the list too.
