The 'Across The Decades' Song Tournament

ACROSS THE DECADES

The boring stuff
Participants will each have eight nominations - those nominations being a song (or version of a song) that was initially released during one of the eight periods listed below (with no participant nominating more than one song emanating from any one period):

• 1940 - 1949
• 1950 - 1959
• 1960 - 1969
• 1970 - 1979
• 1980 - 1989
• 1990 - 1999
• 2000 - 2009
• 2010 - present

A link that does not require sign-up or subscription must be provided to each song (for instance YouTube).

All genres of music are eligible as long as an acceptable link can be provided - only winners and runners-up of previous Song Tournaments and the eventual winner and runner-up in the Valentines tournament plus those in the Movie Clip II tournament (if it begins before this one) are deemed ineligible as nominations.

Participants are expected to listen to both songs in each match prior to voting.

The start date for this tournament will be announced once the aforementioned Valentines tournament is nearing completion.

Not gonna start for a while as the Valentines' one seems to have come to a halt so plenty time to decide noms if needed.

No exceptions unless I can nominate something from the future.
You never know - maybe Swan could help with that?

No exceptions unless I can nominate something from the future.
Hmmm. A "music from the future" song tournament might be interesting. How would that work? Nominate songs you hope represent the future of music? Could be another anything goes kind of thing.

You`re making it very hard for me and my 90% Britney Policy
Never know a change might do you good ..... or you could always channel your inner Britney and pick songs you think she could have possibly made had she been born in the respective era

Who knows - maybe the the next tournament I run will be a Britney tournament?
(I do - it won't lol)

"Come As You Are" by Nirvana was a Runner Up before (mine). If that matters.

Also -- MOJO -- "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" was a winner once.
