Your Movie Firsts

In regard to Asian movies, I've seen the first Police Story now that you mention it...

... pretty good if you like watching Jackie Chan and other stuntmen purposely injuring themselves.
I've tried to watch other Asian films but they're just not my thing.

Never been into foreign language movies, even chop-socky martial arts stuff. Can't stand french movies.

That is definitely it. Still can't remember the first one I ever saw though.

Nope, none of them.

I'm not against reading, I prefer reading the book than watching the film that's based on it. The book is always better.
Just not into foreign language movies.

You don't like them or you've not seen them?

I don't know, it just seems much too arbitrary to me. All French movies are bad because they're French? Or because they have subtitles? Foreign language films have as much variety to them as English language ones do.

First film I remember watching - The Lion King
First film I remember seeing at the cinema - Bugs Life
First 'grown-up' film I saw - A Time to Kill
First film that made me really love movies - Home Alone
First film I got on DVD - A Few Good Men.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be funny or narrow minded etc, it's just my personal preference.
Some people don't like Action, or others don't like rom-coms, other people can't stand Sci-Fi and so on and so on.

I just have no interest in foreign language movies.
There are one or two that ore ok, they're just not my thing.

I am not very interested in Foreign Language films too. I heard A Separation was amazing (99% on RT and Ebert says it was the best film of 2011). But I have no interest seeing it.

Only other countries that I will watch their films are Canada and England.

A Separation is worth seeing, why not see for yourself.

Anyway, Rodent, you are missing out on a world of films. What's a film genre you like a lot? For example, if you like the genre of say sci fi, why miss out on sci fi films that just happen to be from a different country?

Yeah I guess. If you can recommend any sci-fi (any sci-fi really) or full on action (Die Hard types) or crime/action (along the lines of, say, Heat) send us a PM and I'll have a gander.

Japanese films and t.v shows are actually worth watching. I should have added that to the list of films I will watch from other countries. The acting there is great. The director of this movie I am in told us all to go to drama fever and study the acting there. That it is the type of acting they want.

What about Luc Besson movies?Nikita?Leon?I liked them both. For crime movies, maybe try Gomorra,City Of God,Kill The Irishman(this one reminded me of Scorseses Casino )
As for sci-fi,I'm not a fan but Solaris and Metropolis are considered to be great sci-fi movies.

Have you tried La Haine in French, Pan's Labyrinth in Spanish, Save The Green Planet in Korean or Downfall in German? Judging from your favourite movie list I can also recommend:

No Man's Land (Serbia/Bosnia)
Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (Brazil)
The Winter War (Finland)
Waltz With Bashir (Israel)

I have to admit there are few truly original foreign science fiction films. But as for the other genre, please do not write off international cinema.
