This is a French movie I watched 10 years ago so it was probably released between the late 1980s to 2005-ish.
I only remember 2 scenes.
The opening scene there an old man in a ruin or similar is searching for a boy/man by yelling his name without any response.
In the middle of the film a bunch of French artistocrats are at a party and celebrating the New Year's Eve of 1900. They're standing under a clock and raise their drinks.
