ROUND 1 - DAY 2

Aim - Demonique vs Slayer - Piece By Piece
Easy enough choice for me, second was at least short

Virgin Black - Museum of Iscariot vs Jason Lytle - Dept. Of Disappearance
Another easy choice for me, don't like the vocals on the first at all

Dotstokyo - Satellite vs Beverly Jo Scott - Magalie
First was ok but can't compare to BJS

Cody Jinks - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound vs Die Antwoord - I Don't Care
Quite enjoyed the second but I'm more attuned to country than dance

Euzen - The Great Escape vs Ghost - Life Eternal
Second was ok but was never gonna get a vote over my own nom

The Posies - My Big Mouth vs Máté Péter - Elmegyek
Máté Péter is new to me, nice voice and quite enjoyable - first isn't bad either so pretty close choice

Porcupine Tree - Circle of Manias vs Elaine Paige & Andrew Lloyd-Webber - Memory
Another easy choice, I've lots of better ways to depress myself than listen to 'Memory'

The Sidh - I'm just a Sidh in Ireland vs Dead Meadow - Lady
Fusion with a Gaelic slant - count me in

ROUND 1 - DAY 2

Aim - Demonique vs Slayer - Piece By Piece
Cracking Slayer song from a great album, but sometimes I get a little obsessed with the album from which this tune comes - usually a sumer thing for me. This track manages to be dramatic, sinister and chilled out simultaneously.

Virgin Black - Museum of Iscariot vs Jason Lytle - Dept. Of Disappearance
Hated the first song. Jason Lytle I found interesting.

Dotstokyo - Satellite vs Beverly Jo Scott - Magalie
The first wasn't bad, but the second appealed to me more.

Cody Jinks - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound vs Die Antwoord - I Don't Care
Ok this was hard. There are things l like and dislike about both songs. The Cody Jinks is too straight up country for me, and I struggle with that genre. I don't know how to describe the kind of country I mean. But the vocals are decent and it's pleasant enough. Die Antwoord, I feel, ruined what promised to be a very interesting song by going rave. Damn, hate voting against Die Antwoord because it's not as if I don't like them. I do.

Euzen - The Great Escape vs Ghost - Life Eternal
Oh, a nice surprise! I'll vote against my own nom for it. Out of album context it doesn't really have the same emotional impact.

The Posies - My Big Mouth vs Máté Péter - Elmegyek
Wasn't crazy about either song, but the first got my foot tapping a bit.

Porcupine Tree - Circle of Manias vs Elaine Paige & Andrew Lloyd-Webber - Memory
Easy vote. Porcupine Tree serving me a gentle slice of instrumental djent vs super sappy Andrew Lloyd-Webber? PT every day.

The Sidh - I'm just a Sidh in Ireland vs Dead Meadow - Lady
OH BOY tough one. I have sidhe in my username, so I feel a bit of solidarity here. Also, I pretty much adore Ireland, so I'm feeling the pressure to vote against my own Washington DC based stoner rock band who use Orange amps (I have a thing for those amplifiers) and are sweethearts and I collect their stuff and ahsjdkhasjkdhajksdhajkdh, sorry, can't vote against Dead Meadow!!! Granted, it's not the best song to introduce anyone to the band with, but it was the one in my head at nom time.

Let the night air cool you off
ROUND 1 - DAY 2

Aim - Demonique vs Slayer - Piece By Piece - First is good, but I'll take my nom.

Virgin Black - Museum of Iscariot vs Jason Lytle - Dept. Of Disappearance - Lytle kinda wins by default.

Dotstokyo - Satellite vs Beverly Jo Scott - Magalie - Neither are songs I'll be going back to, but neither are bad either.

Cody Jinks - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound vs Die Antwoord - I Don't Care

Euzen - The Great Escape vs Ghost - Life Eternal - Neither are really very good or very bad. This round has been pretty much right down the middle so far.

The Posies - My Big Mouth vs Máté Péter - Elmegyek - The Posies song would have been better if it cut off about 30 seconds. It was fun at first but it wasn't good enough to maintain two-and-a-half minutes. The other dude looks like the type of person that f*cks people without permission, but I am strangely entranced by him.

Porcupine Tree - Circle of Manias vs Elaine Paige & Andrew Lloyd-Webber - Memory - Easy peasy

The Sidh - I'm just a Sidh in Ireland vs Dead Meadow - Lady - LMFAO's career took a weird turn with this one. I'll take the stoners over the boners.

btw @pahaK I am impressed by your seemingly positive attitude considering you don't like anything.

Weird is relative.

Virgin Black - Museum of Iscariot *vs* Jason Lytle - Dept. Of Disappearance

Dotstokyo - Satellite *vs* Beverly Jo Scott - Magalie

Cody Jinks - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound *vs* Die Antwoord - I Don't Care
Not really a country fan, so I'll choose my own nom.

Euzen - The Great Escape *vs* Ghost - Life Eternal
This was a standout for me. She has a pretty voice, and I liked the steampunk-style video. Will be checking out more of her repetoire.

The Posies - My Big Mouth *vs* Máté Péter - Elmegyek

Porcupine Tree - Circle of Manias *vs* Elaine Paige & Andrew Lloyd-Webber - Memory
"Memory" is one of my favorite songs, and this one was a nice performance.

R1D2

Cody Jinks - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound
Hmmm...

Euzen - The Great Escape
More likely

Máté Péter - Elmegyek

DONE

ROUND 1 - DAY 3

A Tribe Called Red - Stadium Pow Wow vs Zed Yago - The Pale Man
The first was better than I expected but still can't compete with my own old German heavy metal nom.

Dogkennel Hill - Drink vs Yaeji - Passionfruit
Both were decent and it was a hard choice. Too much Auto-Tune on the second turned the tables for excessive drinking.

Broadcast - Come on Let's Go vs Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac
First was fine but little repetitive and I'm not fan of instrumentals.

Dead End - Serafine vs The Who - I Can't Explain
I don't know exactly why but something in Dead End didn't sound right. The Who isn't too good either but at least it isn't boring.

Ray Wylie Hubbard - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse vs Maximo Park - North By North East
I'm just sitting here and waiting for the apocalypse.

The Chesterfield Kings - She Told Me Lies vs Lindi Ortega - You Ain't Foolin' Me
First one is really generic, second is (at least to me) little more fresh but too good either.

Showbiz & A.G. - Next Level (Nyte Time Mix) vs Satoko Ishimine - the end of the world (cover)
I'm sure everyone knew my vote for this already but lets make it official.

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth vs R.E.M. - Star Me Kitten
I already forgot both of them. Hmm... I think the first was little more interesting.

_____ is the most important thing in my life…
Aim - Demonique vs Slayer - Piece By Piece

The Sidh - I'm just a Sidh in Ireland vs Dead Meadow - Lady

Big thanks again to doubledenim for breaking our ties

R1D3

Zed Yago - The Pale Man

Have plain time. gotta pick one

Yaeji - Passionfruit
Not fond with both

Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac
need to turn my lap on for this one. paid off with good stuff instead

Dead End - Serafine

Have good time with the matchup. Still never big with the who, i cant explain.

Maximo Park - North By North East
not liking both

The Chesterfield Kings - She Told Me Lies
it was OK

Satoko Ishimine - the end of the world (cover)

hands down

R.E.M. - Star Me Kitten
OK

ROUND 1 - DAY 3

A Tribe Called Red - Stadium Pow Wow vs Zed Yago - The Pale Man
Not keen on either

Dogkennel Hill - Drink vs Yaeji - Passionfruit
Didn't mind the second but not a difficult choice for me

Broadcast - Come on Let's Go vs Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac
Fairly close, but the first was more consistently to my taste

Dead End - Serafine vs The Who - I Can't Explain
Closer than I would have expected, first just overstayed a little bit for me though

Ray Wylie Hubbard - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse vs Maximo Park - North By North East
First was ok, second just isn't my type of track really

The Chesterfield Kings - She Told Me Lies vs Lindi Ortega - You Ain't Foolin' Me
Didn't like it as much as I hoped from initial vibes but marginal preference for the latter anyway

Showbiz & A.G. - Next Level (Nyte Time Mix) vs Satoko Ishimine - the end of the world (cover)
Decent enough rendition of a class song

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth vs R.E.M. - Star Me Kitten
Fairly easy choice for me

ROUND 1 - DAY 3

A Tribe Called Red - Stadium Pow Wow vs Zed Yago - The Pale Man

Dogkennel Hill - Drink vs Yaeji - Passionfruit

Broadcast - Come on Let's Go vs Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac
Very difficult choice for me as Tuna Laguna's one of the rare bands whose album I bought within a minute of listening to the first track. Long story how that happened, but it's always been special to me. Broadcast is another band special to me, and emotionally, I feel the pull to vote for them.

Dead End - Serafine vs The Who - I Can't Explain

Ray Wylie Hubbard - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse vs Maximo Park - North By North East

The Chesterfield Kings - She Told Me Lies vs Lindi Ortega - You Ain't Foolin' Me

Showbiz & A.G. - Next Level (Nyte Time Mix) vs Satoko Ishimine - the end of the world (cover)

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth vs R.E.M. - Star Me Kitten

Weird is relative.
ROUND 1 - DAY 3

A Tribe Called Red - Stadium Pow Wow *vs* Zed Yago - The Pale Man
I actually quite like "The Pale Man," but I prefer my own nom a little more.

Dogkennel Hill - Drink *vs* Yaeji - Passionfruit

Broadcast - Come on Let's Go *vs* Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac
Nice chillout music. The other video kinda creeped me out.

Dead End - Serafine *vs* The Who - I Can't Explain
This isn't the best song of theirs, but I like The Who in general.

Ray Wylie Hubbard - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse *vs* Maximo Park - North By North East

The Chesterfield Kings - She Told Me Lies *vs* Lindi Ortega - You Ain't Foolin' Me

Showbiz & A.G. - Next Level (Nyte Time Mix) *vs* Satoko Ishimine - the end of the world (cover)
I enjoy old skool hip-hop, but wasn't going to pick it over the cute Japanese woman and her beautiful voice.

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth *vs* R.E.M. - Star Me Kitten

Let the night air cool you off
A Tribe Called Red - Stadium Pow Wow vs Zed Yago - The Pale Man

Dogkennel Hill - Drink vs Yaeji - Passionfruit - Damn, I am digging Yaeji.

Broadcast - Come on Let's Go vs Tuna Laguna - On to Tarmac - I'm writing this part before listening to the second track, so I'm not sure how I'll vote. That said, I am really digging this Broadcast track. It feels good listening to back-to-back killers when you do these tournaments. From that Yaeji track to this one, I'm doing good. Now Tuna Laguna gotta step up and kill it too, and with a name like that they better be some type of weirdos. Update: Tuna Laguna is good for sure, but not up to the same snuff as the previous two tracks. Great match-up though.

Dead End - Serafine vs The Who - I Can't Explain - Voting for the Whoeatles.

I was curious so I tallied up the votes again, hope you don't mind, Chypmunk.
