Miyoshi Umeki in Sayonara (1957). She played one of the most appealing and captivating characters of the 20th Century, and won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for it-- at a time when those awards were still based upon talent.

How did you like this movie? I still have a couple of Brando's I haven't seen, this and "The Young Lions"

[Sayonara] How did you like this movie? I still have a couple of Brando's I haven't seen, this and "The Young Lions"
I enjoyed it enough to have seen it 3+ times. It's a wonderful picture. But if you're looking for great acting by Brando, I think he's better in The Young Lions, although the picture is not as good. However he's best in The Ugly American (1963) more than either of the others.

He seemed to really sink his teeth into "cause" films, which was interesting at the time, but refreshingly sophomoric in comparison to today's SJ fests...
