Welcome to the human race...
@Iroquois I was checking your progress and I noticed you accidentally used The Leopard twice. Just a heads up.
Thanks. I shuffle titles around so much I lose track.

@ScarletLion if you just google the name of a film and either 'budget' or 'box office', google usually provides the answer immediately. Alternatively there is boxofficemojo.

Thanks. Have updated but can't find any box office flops. budget info is hard to find.

Welcome to the human race...
There's also the "box office" section on an IMDb page or the info box in the top right corner of a Wikipedia article. That's actually a good question - when it comes to determining a flop, do you count international gross as well as domestic gross? Seems like you'd have to count the former for it to really count as a flop as so many films can get saved from bombing that way. If you're not particular, you could always pick one of the better films on this list of the biggest flops ever. I ended up picking Barb Wire but I only found out it counted after I'd watched it because I quite rightly assumed that it was terrible enough to be a flop.

It is not meant to be that strict of a definition. The 3 challenges connected to budget and box office is more to get you to look into this aspect of film as well.

I have been very surprised in looking into this and finding awful films I expected would bleed money to have made a healthy profit and vice versa.

Welcome to the human race...
I'll concede that the low-budget one is definitely the kind of horizon-expanding entry I'd expect in a movie challenge, but I do question caring about box office since that has little to do with a film's worth beyond indicating how many people were simply willing to pay for a ticket (which does not imply that they liked it or didn't). I get that there are good flops and bad hits, but it's like...how much am I really supposed to care? I managed to find examples without even trying so I don't see much of a challenge when it comes to filling those slots out (especially not compared to the ones that involve different genres and whatnot).

I get your point and I half-agree with the exception that for example seeing films that withstood the test of time but turned out to be largely ignored during their release is definitely interesting (at least to me). Similarly, if you check out the box office (in mojo) from previous decades you may be surprised.
