Not a fan of prison movies. I did enjoy Brute Force (1947) with Burt Lancaster. That was about the last one. And yes, I'm including "Shawshank"...

First Time Felon (1997) is underrated, but very good movie, although it isn't typical "prison movie". It is rather movie connected with prison and something in style "labor camp"
It has excellent plot with Omar Epps.
