von Trier has a tendency of pissing me off. The martyr theme that goes through both Dancer In the Dark and Dogville just annoys me. For some reason it didn't bother me in Breaking the Waves though, which I loved.
Tim Burton makes very cool looking movies, but most of the time I feel like they're going nowhere. Style over substance sort of. It's not like I hated Sleepy Hollow, not at all. But I think Burton is slightly overrated.
