The Warriors

The Warriors, ah this one brings back memories of all that that we were...the colorful and elaborate 80's...or earlie 80's....
Where everyone looked like a rockstar or movie star, just walking down the street...

A time when gangs dressed more to 'fashion' than 'mission'...
It really wasn't a bad movie...It evoked a lot of visual imagdry of what I think people living in rural areas might have pictured gangs...

If anything it was more in the spirit of 'westside story'...or even 'The Wizard of Oz'...The Warriors was a very colorful presentation of gang life...

I wonder what the cast of that movie is up to these days...

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
The Warriors is such a great flick. I kind of rate a movie not only for how good it is to watch, but how much of it stays with you afterwards. How can anyone get the Baseball Furies out of their head? I hope they don't butcher another classic movie with a ridiculous remake, ie, Gone in 60 Seconds, Rollerball. The remake of Rollerball was particularly heinous to me and had me questioning why California had not dropped into the ocean yet.... I can't go on, I'm too upset....

I think that a remake could work. The problem I have (foresee) is giving it a modern setting. Can The Warriors make it back when everyone's using automatic weapons, mobile phones and the internet? Basically, I think a remake of this film will have the same problem as the Rollerball remake, they'll 'MTV' it.

you make a valid point there...
Over commercialization will ruin the film...every fashion designer and cell phone company, and new up coming rap or rock artist would crowed out the 'theme' of the movie..

The 'Warriors' would simply be used as walking bulletin boards...(like Nascar driver suits) to sell and promote everything under the sun....

Maybe that's why movies were better back then, cause they were made without all the commercialism???

Thats a really good point. That's why I like Walter Hill-type movies from the 70's so much--more real to me...It's disappointing to see heroes duck machine gun fire and jump away from explosions in slow motion. If one of the new Warriors is a computer hacker I'll come out of the theater with a deep palmprint indent on my forehead.
