Leanne Morgan - comedienne

I just last night caught Morgan's Netflix comedy special: I'm Every Woman (2023). The woman is a riot. Puts me in mind a little of a cross between Phyllis Diller and Dolly Parton. She's completely down to earth, and likely appeals especially to women, ah, over 40.

I have a hunch that some of the ladies on this site like @Austruck would get a huge kick out of her routine. If you don't have Netflix, she has several bits on YouTube.

Jello!

Turned off Mulaney’s new special after 5 minutes and watched this instead.

I'm guessing that is her real accent, perhaps embellished a bit. I've heard people talk like this... and it's probably part of her storytelling in itself.

Also, @doubledenim ... I did the same with Mulaney's latest, and I found his previous Netflix shows really funny. This new one, just struck me as unfunny right away and I just clicked it off.

His voice is a main part for me. Then it’s all the “legacy, greatest comedian, etc talk” that puts him in a place where he will never be able to deliver.

Like trying to explain Jordan to people who didn’t see him.

55, right?..

Glad you enjoyed Leanne Morgan.
Aren't you sweet (even if you can't do math)? I passed the recommendation along to several of my, umm, approximately 55-year-old female friends.

Just youtubed her. Didn't find her especially funny - is that her real accent? That's the most southern of the southernist accents I think I've ever heard.
Oh yes, she's the real McCoy. Eastern Tennessee and Georgia have pretty thick accents. I live in southern Mississippi, but contrary to what one might think, Miss., Ala., and Louisiana really don't have heavy southern accents, although the northern part of those states may have. We've VERY sophisticated down here on the Gulf Coast...

I love Leanne Morgan. I have been a fan of hers for a year or two now. I saw a lot of her comedy on youtube. She had a Dry Bar special. Dry Bar is a comedy venue and show that does all clean comedy. they are out of Utah. I have seen a lot of good stand up on Dry Bar.

As to Leanne's accent, it is the real thing. That girl is country. She is the daughter of farmers. I thought I reviewed her show in the What's the Last Movie You've Seen thread. Or whatever it is called.
I know I reviewed John Mulaney's latest Baby J. It was so disappointing. He needs to go back to the clubs to work out his stuff.

I always wonder how many of the big-time standups just wing it or use writers. Charlotte was the first stop on Jo Koy’s latest tour and he did crowd work for half the show. Never see him again after that. Clubs are one thing, but theaters + you need to have your hour down for the money they charge.

Kudos to Eddie. He basically has an offer on the table from Netflix, but has concerns over being able to work the material into shape. I’m guessing because he doesn’t wanna tour clubs or drop into the Store, etc., five nights a week.

Thanks for the tip re Dry Bar. Just checked YT, and it has a whole page of Dry Bar links: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...dry+bar+comedy

Good for you. They'll love her. I'm hoping she'll tour to one of the casinos in Biloxi. She might come to Pgh too, so keep your eyes peeled...

One friend and her husband watched it today and loved it. I would definitely go see her if she came to Pittsburgh. Gonna go scout her out for tour dates...

Well, her tour dates are almost exclusively in the South for the foreseeable future. Gee, wonder why!

I see that she's scheduled for 10/14/23 in New Orleans at the Saenger Theatre, which is only a 70 minute drive. Hope I remember to buy tickets!..
