Movies that we will probably never see rebooted again?

What movies do you think that will probably never be remade ever. Like for instance Jaws or King Kong-last one was 2005 I know. Backdraft? Remake Moby Dick? I mean I believe back to the future is pretty much done. And I thought Star Wars was officially done after Revenge of the Sith now their on for episode IV,and its no longer by LucasFilms it was be made by Disney. Godzilla is coming out next year...so I want to know your guys thoughts on movies that probably won't be rebooted again or for like a long time.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
Hollywood is so desperate for $$$ that eventually everything will be rebooted. Nothing is safe.

I will probably see LOTR again in my life time.

Maybe not the original Star Wars trilogy though.

Godzilla already exists in over 30 films and there are dozens to come. Films never rebooted again? 90% of them.

Ozu's Floating Weeds was a reboot of his earlier 1930's film. They will probably never do another Floating Weeds film again.

Waterworld

Agree with Star Wars... it's been done and is way too cherished. More Star Wars yes... and copies of too... but not a remake/reboot.

I'm kinda hoping Critters gets a remake. As long as it doesn't go all comedy like the sequels.

Terminator may get a remake at some point in the next 50 years though.
Predator too.

There are some that are untouchable though. Alien, Casino, Goodfellas, Leon, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Star Wars...

EDIT: I'd like to see Waterworld get redone with the original script. The original film wasn't finished and had production problems that lead to a ton of stuff getting left out.

The Sound of Music (for remake)

Charlie Chan for reboot

The title says reboot, but you say in post remake. They are different things. You are mixing the two together.

There are loads of franchises that we will probably see tons of spin offs, sequels, prequels, reboots but probably not a great deal of actual remakes. Especially not for the true greats.

There will obv be tons of Alien, Predator, Matrix, Star Wars, LOTR, Comic Book movies, Vampires, Zombies etc. Some of them will never die.

I am the Watcher in the Night
This actually made me laugh and you are spot on.

I don't think any of the Star Wars movies already released will be rebooted in my lifetime and neither will LOTR. I can't imagine Terminator 1 and 2 being rebooted.

There are just so many, I doubt The Godfather will ever be rebooted or Citizen Kane.

Basically, most of non-hollywood cinema.
Clearly you have not heard of the Hollywood remake of 8 1/2, 8000 1/2

Micheal Bay's opus on his creative struggle to make a movie that would become Pearl Harbor 2. The dream sequences would be filled with explosions, one dimensional hot chicks who can't act, giant robots, meteors heading towards earth, racial stereotypes, and stars Mark Wahlburg as Bay himself. And the camera shots will only last a few seconds FOR THE ENTIRE MOVIE and will be shown in theaters only in 3D!

Basically, most of non-hollywood cinema.
And most hollywood as well: the US produces 600-700 films per year, of which "only" dozens are remakes.

Generally remakes receive more attention than average movies because they remake the most popular movies.

Well what about jaws and King Kong? Probably never see these films rebooted again. Van Helsing,Thr Mummy, and Jurassic Park IV have already been confirmed. I just don't think we will see another major killer shark blockbuster film unless Spielberg approves with a remake of Jaws...maybe based on the prehistoric giant-The Megladon. Tom
Cruise will be playing Van Helsing...ehhh I'm not so sure about that one. I like cruise but Can Helsing just doesn't fit him at all..sorry. :-(

Gone With The Wind.

You think it could be easily rebooted, get a great cast, director, and dont forget that CGI goodness. Truth is it was a movie so ahead of its time that Hollywood rightfully reveres it. To reboot it diminishes it because what if the reboot is better?! Nuh Unh! This is also why weve never seen a remake of Citizen Kane.

Maybe theres some secret hollywood star chamber that makes these decisions, and thats why Meryl Streep wont win another oscar for best actress?! Things that make you go hmm. (jk)

8 1/2 actually had a musical remake in the form of Nine. Haven't seen it yet, though.
Nine isn't anything great. It's okay, but I remember not liking to very much.

They made a TV movie sequel.

I hope they don't remake Chitty Chitty Bang bang. The original is perfect for children.
