Kamikazi Lady by the Residents:

Kamakazi Lady slips in at night
She likes to check and see if your underwear's tight
She knows the way to open up the hole in your head
And see the silly sucker you thought was dead

The floating locust garden of your old sweet fondling dreams

Kamakazi Lady... etc.

The night meal of the milque wheats I ate it to the treats

Kamakazi Lady... etc.

I can't convey to you in words how utterly wonderful this particular song is, and simply giving you the lyrics flat on the page isn't enough to truly get it across. If you've ever heard Uncle Tupelo or Wilco, you'll know what I'm getting at, but for those who haven't had the pleasure:

Try to imagine an acoustic guitar twanging on its lonesome and a faintly raspy voice carrying a hint of bluegrass and enough heartbreak to make you sit up and pay attention...

"Still Be Around" - Uncle Tupelo

I don't see you through the windshield
I don't see you in faces looking back at me
Alcohol doesn't have much that matters to say
Can't imagine where you and time to kill will stay

When the Bible is a bottle
and the hardwood floor is home
When morning comes twice a day or not at all
If I break in two, will you put me back together?
When this puzzle's figured out, will you still be around
to say you've just been there
walking the line, upside down?

Walked and breathed many a cancerous mile
where the bat of an eye is too slow to beat the coffin
They won't tell it on the TV
They can't say it on the radio
They pay to move it off the shelf and into our minds
until you can't tell the truth when it's right in front of your eyes

When the Bible is a bottle
and the hardwood floor is home
When morning comes twice a day or not at all
If I break in two, will you put me back together?
When this puzzle's figured out, will you still be around
to say you've just been there
walking the line, upside down?

I think I saw a documentary a few years ago where he said he was so surprised when reviews about The Smiths' songs started to appear in the beginning of their career. Critics were all talking about the dark depressed lyrics. Morrissey and his bandmates all thought the lyrics were great fun - which they often are - and didn't understand that people didn't see the humor in them.

But of course... With songs like "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" and "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" it's hard to see Morrissey as anything but the cult figure for male intellectual-wannabees with a lonely soul and a broken heart... at least if you're circling around 30. Like me...
Don't get me wrong, I like The Smiths... Just f*cking hate Morrisey. I can kinda see the humor in The Smiths lyrics, Mainly in the rediculousness of some of them (some of them). If hes being sarcastic, i find it hard to tell because he has some songs that seem pretty serious (see below) and others that sound similar that are just stupid (see below)....

Plus he said this,
"The Cure, a new dimension to the word 'crap'."
I will try get Hold of Rope, Sodom and Lash when i get home... Meanwhile...

The Smiths - Reel Around The Fountain
It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Reel around the fountain
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people said that you were virtually dead
And they were so wrong

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, well, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people said that you were easily led
And they were half-right
Oh, they ... oh, they were half-right, oh

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
It's time that the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Oh, reel around the fountain
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Ah ... oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
Oh, but I do.
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
I do.
Oh, I ... oh, I do
Oh ...

I dreamt about you last night
And I fell out of bed twice
You can pin and mount me like a butterfly
But "take me to the haven of your bed"
Was something that you never said
Two lumps, please
You're the bee's knees
But so am I

Oh, meet me at the fountain
Shove me on the patio
I'll take it slowly
Oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
Oh, but I do.
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, no, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
I do.
Oh, I ... I do
Oh, I do
Oh, I do
Oh, I do

Morrisey - You're The One For Me Fatty
You're the One for me, fatty
You're the One I really, really love
And I will stay
Promise you'll say
If I'm in your way
You're the One for me, fatty

And I will stay
Promise you'll say
If I'm ever in your way
A-hey

All over Battersea
Some hope; and some despair
All over Battersea

Hello Salem, my name's Winifred. What's yours
Always by Saliva

I hear... a voice say "Don't be so blind"...
it's telling me all these things...
that you would probably hide...
am I... your one and only desire...
am I the reason you breathe...
or am I the reason you cry...

Always... always... always... always... always... always...
I just can't live without you...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't get around you...
I breathe you...
I taste you...
I can't live without you...
I just can't take anymore...
this life of solitude...
I guess that i'm out the door...
and now i'm done with you...

I feel... like you don't want me around...
I guess i'll pack all my things...
I guess i'll see you around...
It's all... been bottled up until now...
as I walk out your door...
all I can hear is the sound...

Always... always... always... always... always... always...
I just can't live without you...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't get around you...
I breathe you...
I taste you...
I can't live without you...
I just can't take anymore...
this life of solitude...
I guess that i'm out the door...
and now i'm done with you...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't live without you...

I left my head around your heart...
Why would you tear my world apart...

Always... always... always... always...

I see... the blood all over your hands...
does it make you feel... more like a man...
was it all... just a part of your plan...
this pistol's shakin' in my hands...
and all I hear is the sound...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't live without you...
I breathe you...
I taste you...
I can't live without you...
I just can't take anymore...
this life of solitude...
I guess that i'm out the door...
and now i'm done with you...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't live without you...

I love you...
I hate you...
I can't live without you...
I just can't take anymore...
this life of solitude...
I pick myself off the floor...
and now i'm done with you...
Always...
Always...
Always...

Everything by Alanis Morisette

I can be a nightmare of the grandest kind
I can withhold like its going out of style
I have the bravest heart that youve ever seen
And youve never met anyone who's as positive as I am sometimes

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you cant relate
And youre still here

I blame everyone else, not my own partaking
My passive-aggressiveness can be devastating
I'm the most gorgeous woman that youve ever known
And youve never met anyone who's as everything as I am sometimes

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you cant relate
And youre still here

What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know
What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you cant relate
And youre still here

And youre still here
And you're still here...

You're such an inspiration for ways
That i will never ever choose to be.
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How your savior has abandoned you.

Thank(f***) your god.
Your lord, your christ
He did this,
Took all you had
And left you this way.
Still you pray, never stray,
Never taste of the fruit.
Never thought to question why.

It's not like you killed someone.
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side.
Praise the one who left you
Broken down and paralyzed.
He did it all for you.
He did it all for you.

Oh so many ways for me to show you
How your dogma has abandoned you.
Pray to your christ, to your god.
Never taste of the fruit,
Never stray, never break,
Never choke on a lie,
Even though he's the one who did this to you
Never thought to question why.

It's not like you killed someone.
It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side.
Talk to jesus christ as if he knows the reasons why
He did this all to you.

He did it all for you.
He did it all for you.

Fugazi-FACET SQUARED
pride no longer has definition
everybody wears it, it always fits
a state invoked for the lack of position
strength is the bait that keeps us so busy
if it's perforated, then i tear it to bits
all sense lost in the frenzy
they should never... ...touch the ground
irony is the refuge of the educated
always complaining but they never quit
cool's eternal, but it always dated
they should never... ...touch the ground
it's not worth, it's the investment that
keeps us tied up in all these strings
we draw lines and stand behind them
that's why flags are such ugly things
that they should never... ...touch the ground

Rush-Double Agent
Where would you rather be?
Anywhere but here
When will the time be right?
Anytime but now

"On the edge of sleep, I was driting for half the night
Anxious and restless, pressed down by the darkness
Bound up and wound up so tight."

So tight...

"So many decisions, a million revisions
Caught between darkness and light..."

Wilderness of mirrors
World of polished steel
Gears and iron chains
Turn the grinding wheel
I run between the shadows
Some are phantoms, some are real

Where would you rather be?
Anywhere but here
When will the time be right?
Anytime but now
Where would you rather be?
The doubt and the fear
I know would all disappear
Anywhere but here
Anywhere but here...

"On the edge of sleep, I heard voices behind the door
The known and the nameless, familiar and faceless
My angels and my demons at wa"r

At war...

"Which one will lose depends on what I choose
Or maybe which voice I ignore..."

Wilderness of mirrors
Streets of cold desire
My precious sense of honour
Just a shield of rusty wire
I hold against the chaos
And the cross of holy fire

Wilderness of mirrors
So easy to deceive
My precious sense of rightness
Is sometimes so naive
So that which I imagine
Is that which I believe

"On the edge of sleep, I awoke to a sun so bright
Rested and fearless, cheered by "your nearness
I knew which direction was right

Was right...

"The case had been tried by the jury inside
The choice between darkness and light...
The choice between darkness and light."

I am having a nervous breakdance
Ideology

When one voice rules the nation
Just because they're on top of the pile
Doesn't mean their vision is the clearest
The voices of the people
Are falling on deaf ears
Our politicians all become careerists
They must declare their interests
But not their company cars
Is there more to a seat in Parliament
Than sitting on your arse
And the best of all this bad bunch
Are shouting to be heard
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

Outside the patient millions
Who put them into power
Expect a little more back for their taxes
Like school books, beds in hospitals
And peace in our bloody time
All they get is old men grinding axes
Who've built their private fortunes
On the things they can rely
The courts, the secret handshake
The stock Exchange and the old school tie
For God and Queen and Country
All tings they justify
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

God bless the Civil Service
The nation's saving grace
While we expect democracy
They're laughing in our face
And although our cries get louder
Their laughter gets louder still
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

Levi Stubbs' Tears

With the money from her accident
She bought herself a mobile home
So at least she cold get some enjoyment
Out of being alone
No one could say that she was left up on the shelf
"It's you and me against the World, kid" she mubled to herself

When the World falls apart some things stay in place
Levi Stubbs' tears run down his face

She ran away from home in her mother's best coat
She was married before she was even entitled to vote
And her husband was one of those blokes
The sort who only laughs at his own jokes
The sort a war takes away
And when there wasn't a war he left anyway

When the World falls apart some things stay in place
Levi Stubbs' tears run down his face

Norman Whitfield and Barratt Strong
Are here to make right everything that's wrong
Holland and Holland and Lamont Dozier too
Are here to make it all okay with you

One dark night he came home from the sea
And put a hole in her body where no hole should be
It hurt her more to see him walking out the door
And though they stiched her back together they
left her heart in pieces on the floor

When the World falls apart some things stay in place
She takes off the Four Tops tape and puts it back in its case
When the World falls apart some things stay in place
Levi Stubbs' tears...

Chicks dig Lord of the Rings, Randal
Saints and Sailors - Dashboard Confessional

This is where I say I've had enough
and no one should ever feel the way that I feel now.
A walking open wound,
a trophy display of bruises
and I don't believe that I'm getting any better, any better.

Waiting here with hopes the phone will ring
and I'm thinking awful things
and I'm pretty sure that few would notice.
And this apartment
is starving for an argument.
Anything at all to break the silence.

Wandering this house
like I've never wanted out
and this is about as social as I get now.
And I'm throwing away the letters that I am writing you
'cause they would never do,
I would never do, never.

So don't be a liar,
don't say that "everything's working"
when everything's broken.
And you smile like a saint
but you curse like a sailor
and your eyes say the joke's on me.

But I'm not laughing and you're not leaving
and who do I think I am kidding
When I'm the only one locked in this cell?

So don't be a liar,
don't say that "everything's working"
when everything's broken.
And you smile like a saint
but you curse like a sailor
and your eyes say the joke's on me.

Someone Save Us College Kids
BOB DYLAN - Like a Rolling Stone

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Hello Salem, my name's Winifred. What's yours
I Never Told You What I Do Fo A Living - My Chemical Romance

Stay out of the light
Or the photographs that I gave you
You can say a prayer if you need to
Or just get in line and I’ll grieve you
Can I meet you, alone
Another night and I’ll see you
Another night and I’ll be you
Some other way to continue
To hide my face

Another knife in my hands
A stain that never comes off the sheets
Clean me off
I'm so dirty, babe
The kind of dirty
Where the water never cleans off the clothes
I keep a book of the names and those
Only go so far to bury them
So deep and down we go

Touched by angels though, I fall out of grace
I did it all so maybe I’d live this everyday

Another knife in my hands
A stain that never comes off the sheets
Clean me off
I’m so dirty, babe
It ain't the money
And it sure as hell ain't just for the fame
It’s for the bodies I claim and those
Only go so far to bury them
So deep and down we go
Down
And down we go
And down we go
And down we go
And we all fall down

And we'll all dance alone to the tune of your death
We’ll love again, we'll laugh again
And it's better off this way

And never again, and never again
They gave us two shots to the back of the head
And we're all dead now

Well never again, and never again
They gave us two shots to the back of the head
And we're all dead now

I tried, one more night, one more night
Well I’m laughing', crying', laughing'
I tried, well I tried, well I tried
Cause I tried, but I lied
I tried, I tried, I tried

And we'll love again and we'll laugh again
We’ll try again and we'll dance again
And it's better off this way
So much better off this way
I can't clean the blood off the sheets in my bed

Never again, and never again
They gave us two shots to the back of the head
And we're all dead now

Neutral Milk Hotel
My Dream Girl Dont Exist-Neutral Milk Hotel

my dream girl don't exist
and at the age of five she slit her rists
she didn't know that i'de be hanging around
so her parents buried her in the ground
this day i can still hear the sound
of a life in outer space

my dream girl don't exist
it just you and i and this tv
and this illness seems to feel so strange
like a hench man that's about to hang
the moon, up like a ball and chain

and the weight is waiting off
feel the world so real and strung

my dream girl don't exist
just a photograph in a history book
and i beleive she had a voice and name
three children on the coast of maine
her life was in a hurricane
of love and real embrace

my dream girl don't exist
and at the age of five she slit her rists
she didn't know that i'de be hanging around
so one day she took a strole to town
and walked infront of a greyhound
bound for new york central state

and the weight is waiting off
and the weight is waiting off
fell the world so real and strung
she know, and knows she knows
she'll never be afraid

It's not that I don't trust you
well I just know what you've been up too

so as his eyes move past your shoulder
and your shades start moving in the same direction
don't worry I, well I won't say a thing.

stickin' to what she knows..(stickin' to what she knows)

I hope he takes his time

I hope that when he leaves,
you still smell him on your sheets
cause I can, I can.
I hope he takes his time

then, I guess you could stop pretendin'.

forget our one last kiss goodnight.
forget me stakin' out your house.
forget I've got you figured out.

forget your legs around my hips.
forget your hands pressed on my back.
forget the letters that I kept.

21ST CENTURY SCHIZOID MAN - King Crimson

Cat’s foot iron claw
Neuro-surgeons scream for more
At paranoia’s poison door.
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Blood rack barbed wire
Polititians’ funeral pyre
Innocents raped with napalm fire

Death seed blind man’s greed
Poets’ starving children bleed
Nothing he’s got he really needs
Twenty first century schizoid man.

I am having a nervous breakdance
Blasphemous Rumours

Girl of sixteen, whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists, bored with life
Didn’t succeed, thank the lord
For small mercies

Fighting back the tears, mother reads the note again
Sixteen candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame, it’s always the same
She goes down on her knees and prays

I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that god’s got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find him laughing

Girl of eighteen, fell in love with everything
Found new life in jesus christ
Hit by a car, ended up
On a life support machine

Summer’s day, as she passed away
Birds were singing in the summer sky
Then came the rain, and once again
A tear fell from her mother’s eye

I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that god’s got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find him laughing

illustrate what an easy prey i must have been
standing in the sun, idiot savant
something like a monument
i'm a dinosaur, somebody is digging my bones

ignorance has alway been something i excel in
followed by naivete and pride
doesn't take a scientist to see how
any clever predator could have a piece of me
standing in the sun, idiot savant
something like a monument
i'm a dinosaur, somebody is digging my bones

when i look back on the past
it's a wonder i'm not yet extinct
all the mistakes and bad judgements i made
nearly pushed me to the brink
it doesn't pay to be too nice
it's the one thing i have learned
still, i made my fossil bed
now i toss and turn

i'm a dinosaur, somebody is digging my bones

Neutral Milk Hotel
Iron and Wine- Trapeze Swinger. If anyone has ever seen In Good Company its the song at the end.

please remember me, happily
by the rosebush laughing
with bruises on my chin, the time when
we counted every black car passing
your house beneath the hill, and up until
someone caught us in the kitchen
with maps, a mountain range, a piggy bank
a vision too removed to mention

but please remember me, fondly
i heard from someone you're still pretty
and then they went on to say that the Pearly Gates
had some eloquent graffiti
like: “we'll meet again” and “**** the Man”
and “tell my mother not to worry”
and angels with their great handshakes
but always done in such a hurry

and please remember me, at Hallowe’en
making fools of all the neighbors
our faces painted white, by midnight
we'd forgotten one another
and when the morning came i was ashamed
only now it seems so silly
that season left the world and then returned
and now you're lit up by the city

so please remember me, mistakenly
in the window of the tallest tower
call, then pass us by, but much too high
to see the empty road at happy hour
gleam and resonate just like the gates
around the Holy Kingdom
with words like: “lost and found” and “don't look down”
and “someone save temptation”

and please remember me as in the dream
we had as rug-burned babies
among the fallen trees and fast asleep
beside the lions and the ladies
that called you what you like and even might
give a gift for your behavior:
a fleeting chance to see a trapeze-
swinger high as any savior

but please remember me, my misery
and how it lost me all i wanted
those dogs that love the rain, and chasing trains
the colored birds above there running
in circles round the well, and where it spells
on the wall behind St. Peter's
so bright with cinder gray in spray paint:
“who the hell can see forever?”

and please remember me, seldomly
in the car behind the carnival
my hand between your knees, you turn from me
and said the trapeze act was wonderful
but never meant to last, the clowns that passed
saw me just come up with anger
when it filled the circus dogs, the parking lot
had an element of danger

so please remember me, finally
and all my uphill clawing
my dear, but if i make the Pearly Gates
i’ll do my best to make a drawing
of God and Lucifer, a boy and girl
an angel kissin’ on a sinner
a monkey and a man, a marching band
all around the frightened trapeze-swinger

nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah …
