I found You odd even during the first season, what with the concept of ‘love’ being so central (too used to cynical postmodern films, I guess), but what threw me off in the second season was the bizarre semi-metafictional angle. It’s not exactly metafiction at the level of Adaptation or Synecdoche, New York or even The French Lieutenant’s Woman , but it’s kind of disconcerting... the fact that Joe moves away and just happens to be in the one place where someone is trying to adapt his murdered ex’s book...? Really? And happening to date that person’s sister?.. maybe I’m putting too much emphasis on realism...

Anyone have thoughts on that?
