Yeah, a loooooong time ago! Chances are, if you think of a good thread idea, it's been done before. You shouls always plug a key word into our search engine and see if you can find a thread sorta the same as the one you want to start...we always like when people refresh old threads...
If you don't see one around, then by all means; make it, baby!

Anyhoo...
downloaded a few good ones the other day:

Crazy Love & Someone Like You ~ Van Morrison

Cruisin ~ The Huey Lewis and Gwenth Paltrow version

Let's Get it On ~ Jack Black (High Fidelity sndtrk)

Fade Into You ~ Mazzy Star (remember that one? Good song...)

Mary Lo~ Would it be a safe assumption to say that all shapes and sizes dig on the Beasties? I mean, who doesn't ?
(Sorry--didn't get back to this thread for a while. )

I say, you bet. (Mary Lo puts on her best "Two Wild and Crazy Guys" voice) And why shouldn't they? There is nothing preventing them!

(normal voice again) The Beasties do defy any and all social and biological barriers. That's one of the reasons why they are one of the best music groups of all time.

"I got news for you boy, you'll be suckin' like a leech!"

Hmm....what does that tell you about Metal?

A few more songs I'm high on right now:
  • Jeremy - Pearl Jam
  • Hook - Blues Traveler
  • Alive - POD
  • Pink - Aerosmith
  • Praise You - Fatboy Slim
That's all for now.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Here's some I am currently listening to:

Too Bad - Nickelback
Warning - Incubus
Brain Stew - Green Day

Can't think of the title right now, but it's by the Goo Goo Dolls, and it's their newest song out.

You said it!

Pink - Aerosmith
"Cuz pink is my fav-or-ite color." Great song...

I haven't really posted any of my favorites yet... here's a couple...

Albums:

Johnny Cash - Orange Blossom Special, American Recordings, Unchained (actually, anything he's made would go here )

Bad Religon - Suffer, Against the Grain

Weezer - Weezer

NOFX - Punk in Drublic, So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes

Descendants - Two Things At Once

Propaghandi - How to Clean Everything

They Might Be Giants - Flood

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink

The O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind

Counting Crows - August and Everything After

All - Pummel

Violent Femmes - anything and everything

Well, more than a couple, but there you go.

Some Stuff I DL in the last week or so that have been listing to repeatedly.

bob crosby - the big noise from winnetka
Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band
trainspotting - Lust For Life (Iggy Pop)
shubert - Trio in E Flat, Opus 100
miles davis - pachelbel's canon in d
david gray - babylon

Me likes several of those. They Might Be Giants are fun...I dig Istanbul (or whatever the official title is), and Particle Man cracks me up...and anyone who denies that Cash's Ring of Fire is anything less than classic needs to have their head examined.

Amen, bro--and it is "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)."

Particle Man, Particle Man
Doin' the things a particle can
What's he like?
It's not important
Particle Man

Is he a dot, or is he a speck?
When he's underwater
does he get wet?
Or does the water get him instead?
Nobody knows
Particle Man

The building's not going as we planned
The foreman has injured his hand
The dozer will not clear a path
The driver says he learned his math
The workers are going home...

Weird, weird. "My Name is Jonas"? H-wha?
It's one of my favorite songs on the CD.

I remember listening to that album for the first time, and thinkin," These guys rock, and I'm the only one that knows about them."
Then I woke up realized they got popular.

My favorite song off that CD: Undone, The Sweater Song.
"If you want to destroy my sweater, pull this strand as I walk away..."

I can't Beileve I haven't mentioned Roy Orbison I love everthing the man's done.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
I'm totally proving whover said that my list will change right, but I forgot about :

Alice Cooper: Billion Dollar Babies
Cheap Trick: Cheap Trick (their 1st album)
The Pogues: Red Roses for Me
The Vaselines: The Way of the Vaselines
Meat Puppets: Meat Puppets II

The list could go on forever. Currently, I'm listening to:

System of a Down
Blink 182
Flogging Molly

Oh, and I just got the new Weezer CD...I hate to say it, but it's totally disappointing. It's just not very Weezer-esque, and the lyrics are pretty meaningless. Back to the Used CD bin it goes...
Blink 182

Blink 182
WHA?! You talk of Weezer's lyrics being pointless then you end with Blink 182? Oh jeeze, the irony.

okay, that second Blink 182 was a typo that I didn't even notice, and now I feel stupid about it. But have you heard Maladroit? Tell me what even one of the songs on that album is about. It's all abstract non sequiters...and I stand by my choice of Blink 182, I think they're frickin' hilarious, and in the same spirit of the Ramones and The Buzzcocks. Every supposed "Punk Purist" trashes them because they get on the radio and MTV, but so what? I defy the punk rock nazis!

RUDIE CAN'T FAIL
(STRUMMER/JONES)

Sing, Michael, sing-on the route of the 19 Bus
Hear them sayin'
How you get a rude and a reckless?
Don't you be so crude and a feckless
You been drinking brew for breakfast
Rudie can't fail

So we reply
I know that my life make you nervous
But I tell you that I can't live in service
Like the doctor who was born for a purpose***
Rudie can't fail

I WENT TO THE MARKET TO REALISE MY SOUL
'CAUSE WHAT I NEED I JUST DON'T HAVE
FIRST THEY CURSE, THEN THEY PRESS ME TILL I HURT
WE SAY RUDIE CAN'T FAIL

We hear them sayin'
Now first you must cure your temper
Then you find a job in the paper
You need someone for a saviour
Oh, Rudie can't fail

We reply
Now we get a rude and a reckless
We been seen lookin' cool an' a speckless
We been drinking brew for breakfast
So Rudie can't fail

Okay!
So where you wanna go today?
Hey boss man!
You're looking pretty smart
In your chicken skin suit

You think you're pretty hot
In your pork pie hat
But...Rudie can't fail
Look out, look out...
Sky juice!...10 cents a bottle!

Nothing beats The Clash as far as weird-punk-music goes.
