i have no clue what it is tried imdb and search engines, thought it was maybe ben hur, snow white or something.

Actually, they're all in color. The world was just black&white back then. It wasn't until the '50s until the world turned color, and it was a pretty grainy color at first, too.

But the real answer, I believe, is that the first color film shot with the two-color process was "The Toll of the Sea" in 1922. The first film to use the three-color process was a cartoon called "Flowers and Trees" in 1932. The first non-cartoon using the three-color process was "Becky Sharp" in 1935.
