DAYS OF THUNDER IS A REMAKE OF STROKER ACE

Okay here we go the similarities to these movies are quite easily noticed for one thing Both Burt & Tom either finish there race by crash there cars during there races or come in first place Both have and Main Mechanic that play a major role in the film as the second character in the storyline and they are always play jokes with each other.

There's a guy in both films(Cary Elwes,Parker Stevenson) who's on there case and they both have blond hair with a smrick looking like a pretty boy. They constanly try to say something to make themselves look smarter or to one up them but it never really works. They spend most of the races BUMPING Burt's or Tom's Bumper from behind and trying to get them knocked out of the race by crashing other cars into them or using there own car to crash their car.

Now we come to the Women they both fall in love with the main character out of some kind of sympathy both have weird sexually experiences (DOT) The toy car going up her leg in bed and in (SA) she becomes drunk and passes out on the bed after giving herself to Burt. Burt undresses her but doesn't take advantage of the situation or does hey.

They both have problems with there sponsors
(DOT) the Sponsor leaves him for the of driver (Cary Elwes) that's has been on his case.
(SA)He takes advantage of his sponsors way too many times and loses them gets another sponsors which is way worse than the first one and for the rest of the movie tries to some how get out of his contract with Ned Beatty.

The Drivers play games that could cause serious injures (DOT) they have a race with two rent-a-cars.
(SA) They use table carts to race with which burt decides to through one thought a plate glass window into a pool.

Basically what (DOT) becomes is a movie that is written a bit more seriously but not much more, bigger budget and that has a nifty soundtrack to go with it.

BTW, both films are mind-numbingly awful.

*and Stroker Ace always sounded like a porno title to me. Too bad it wasn't, as it may have been worth watching to see Loni Anderson all nekkid in her prime (only a year removed from "WKRP in Cincinnati"). She's not my type - more a Bailey Quarters man myself, but I would have taken a gander.

I guess what I was trying to say is that a lot of movies that are being made today that people love are just revampings of movies that have been done before they both aren't so swift but I just find it funny that people love Days of Thunder so much but it's already been done before and it's not that it's just been done but it's been pratically copyed right down to it's structure. They think they can put some great special effects a crafty soundtrack and a big star or two and it will be good. Oh well that's Hollywood for ya.
