Top 10 Horror

^yeah, The Two Sister was an excellent Korean flick, also uses Liszt's La lugubra gondola, if I recall correctly, I like that; The American remake was downright trash. Not so with Quarantine

Older classics, not in that order, but as pioneering trends:

1.Pyscho
2.Black Christmas
3.The Thing
4.Halloween
5.Evil Dead 2
6.Texas Chainsaw Massacre
7.Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
8.Night of the Living Dead
9.The Exorcist
10. The Shining

Newer goodies, I find well done would be:

1.Eden Lake
2.Them (Frnch flck)
3.Surveillance
4.Funny Games
5.Death Proof
6.Martyr
7.Inside
8.Quarantine
9.The Strangers (Underated imo)
10.Triangle

Jaws. oopsy..forgot Jaws, saw it a couple posts up^

A newer of this type very well done, would be Australian film Rogue.

You prefer Quarantine over the original film [REC]?
Yes, I very much do, I don't much get hooked into the demonic spirit sort, not most of the time anyway, only sometimes. I'm not saying it wasn't a replica in most ways, it was, that is sort of a credit of it anyways imo; doing a fair job of this was a job in itself. Besides, I saw Q first. Little ground to stand on but...

I preferred [REC] if only because the lead actress seemed much more authentic to me in her role.

Try watching The Human Centipede, a french movie that was highly rated.

The sound track to Two Sisters had slow strings maybe, I'd heard the Liszt in something? This is going to bug me.

Have not seen the Centipede yet...

It had the far superior ending also - all mostly done with make up and a specialised actor. Impressive stuff. It took about 6 hours for them to do the make up on him.

It's not a French film...

Quick off topic here. Would you say [REC] 3 worth watching? I really like the first two. The second gave me another dose of "what's going on here" which kept it fresh for me; however, I've heard some negatives about it.

On topic. I also have a bit of trouble with the classics as it can be difficult to be immersed. They're great for the art value, but I need to be able to believe the situation (granted, given any supernatural occurrences). For example, the Evil Dead series is ridiculous yet has some humor value for me.

^ [REC] 3 was a very big step down from the first two films. I love the first one, second one was decent but not too keen on it. 3rd film makes the 2nd film look like a masterpiece.

Look at [REC] 3 as more of a horror with comedic bits... also, most of it is shot normally, the first part at the wedding is shot point of view/hand held cameras and then it switches.

Maybe I'll hold off then.. I don't like the idea of a [REC] movie being shot normally.
