Films That NEED A Reboot

Tools

Different from Remakes, What films need a reboot instead of Hollywood pocketing the cash and making a crappy product. Spiderman is getting a reboot (Or Ultimate Spiderman adaption) and Casino Royale was a 007 Reboot, so i should ask if there are any other films or franchises in need of a reboot.
This I believe is to be a very touchy subject to most people, but I think its time for Hollywood to start rebooting the old classics. I suggest Casablanca, or Ben Hur. It was good to see they remade True Grit, which by the way turned out better than I hoped it would. I think as an avid movie watcher Hollywood is running out of ideas.

"Live forever or die trying"
Million Dollar Baby. Get rid of the break and make it a straight female Rocky picture. I thought it was quite good up till that point.
Agreed, the movie was great, don't get me wrong. But!! if they were to have made it a rocky type of fighting until you drop kind of movie it would have been an epic movie. It could have been a rocky reboot itself or at least a catalyst for a sequel.

i dont think Hollywood are running out of ideas that fast. You still have smart talented directors like Nolan, Abrams & Cameron who are making millions based on original ideas (Despite Avatar being cliched as hell)

While all three definitely have original ideas, Nolan is most famous for his "reboot" of Batman, Abrams for his "reboot" of Star Trek, and Cameron for sequels to Alien and Terminator and a film based on the tragedy of the Titanic. At least, those are what springs to mind when I think of each one. Those are the projects that made/are making them marquee names enabling them to continue making their more original films. All of Hollywood is guilty, and has been for decades.

Ghostbusters. It's just simply a fun movie and it would be interesting to see how it can be done now with better special effects.
Taxi Driver. I am not sure if I want a reboot or just an update on how Travis Bickle has turned out.
Mickey Mouse. How long has it been since his last movie. Come on. It's Mickey Mouse, let's give him something.
Ten Commandments. I posted this in another thread already. It would simply be interesting to see what technology can do differently. There are also more research on the the bible.

Nolan made Inception
Abrams will release Super 8 this year
and Cameron made The Abyss & The Terminator long before it became a franchise.

A Power Rangers Third Film i think is overdue, and a summer release may be successful if not lost in the pile. I would rather see a Third Ghostbusters Film than a Reboot. Ten Commandments remake would be good.

I always forget Cameron did the first Terminator film too. The Abyss was not a blockbuster. Inception came after Nolan did Batman. Super 8 is not even out yet. I still stand by what I said. They all have original ideas but their biggest fame thus far has come from remaking and/or "rebooting" already proven ideas. That fame has given/is giving them the opportunity to explore more original ideas with bigger budgets.

I can argue that Memento got people talking about Nolan long before Batman Begins. Cameron made T1, Abrams got his start in TV (Felicity,Alias,Lost) before making the break with Film.

there have been attempts to buy the rights of supermario for movies but the owner refuses. i think i heard somewhere that he has already been offered as much money as the biggest franchise rights in history but he continues to say no.

if anyone here could shed light if there is an update, please do so

DeadPin or KingPool?
Every single video game movie should be rebooted to respect fans, before they even thought of shooting future failures such as gears of war or even halo...

I could only half respect mortal kombat and silent hill...

And don't get me started on the cartoon to live action that destroyed my youth... Ooh how bout Cool World... Today's technology could help it... Maybe?

Bladerunner.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
Whoever said Highlander is wrong. That original is awesome, and I read somewhere they were going to re-make it with Ryan Reynolds, which just made me stop caring about any future Highlander films.

That said...

Re-Boot the new Conan the Barbarian by bringing back Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan, and I seriously wanna see a new Police Academy. I mean bring in some of today's top comedic talent (maybe even a cameo by Steve Guttenberg?) and go nuts with the premise. Hell, if I made movies, this would have been made by now.

Young Skywalker. Missed you, I have...
I would like to see them do a good Dragon Ball Z movie, only because I loved that show when I was younger. Also, Mario Bros. Ooh and I would like to see a Duke Nukem movie.

ha i honestly thought this said "films that need a robot" and I started thinking of some, but that's a different thread...

i think i mentioned in the spidey 4 thread that I'd rather see a Daredevil reboot. idk if it NEEDs it but Ghost Rider was pretty bad same with Last Airbender and Dragonball: Evolution.

I'd see a Zorro reboot...
I'll be seeing the Suspiria & Hellraiser reboots for sure.

but the one that needs it the most (or I want the most) is Mortal Kombat
I honestly see big problems trying to adapt a 30+ episode season and make a movie out of it. So I say leave future Dragonball movies in animated form.

Mortal Kombat I liked, but a ultra violent true to the video game adaptation would be bad ass however.
